Well...we always give our kids a small stack of red/heart things like socks, pencil holders, candies, notebooks, t-shirts and undies with breakfast.
My husband and I are lucky enough to have everything we need so we give back in honor of each other. This year we are each donating a cow to a family in a third world country.
