Hi everyone,
It's been a long time since I have posted here, but I had to come back today for my 1 year sobriety date :-)
Thank you Carol and all the others who were so encouraging and supportive those first few months as I learned to "do without". It seems that it really did take a good six months for the brain's reprogramming to be felt.
For perspective, if anyone is interested, here is the link to my very first post last April.

Serenity? I guess so. Not that it is anything mystical. Just re-learning to accept life on it's terms without seeking escape. And honestly, my life is not difficult for me right now (I just retired), so that helps a lot! Still, every once in awhile a stressful event will come along which will make me wish I at least had a Zanax in the house. But nevermind. Chamomile tea is my friend :-)
May God bless and enable you all on your journeys.
Paul
