Last year for this same banquet I was worried about getting drunk around my professors, industry execs, donors, etc. There's one drink I have never been desperate enough to consume: Gin and Tonic. Disgusting. So I ordered one and carried it around all night. That worked out because I knew it would only be a couple hours until I could go home and have alcohol. I hope carrying a coke or tonic or something like that will help, and like last year, reminding myself it's only a couple of hours.
