Hi ghost and welcome!!
Yup, it is up to you whether you are an alcoholic and to be honest, to decide what you want to do with that information. I have a brother that drinks just as much as I did, nearly everyday. Definitely every other day. BUT he is happy as far as I can tell and does not feel that his life is unmanageable because of it. Mine was! I was miserable because I knew that I was not living the life that I was meant to live. Do I tell him he is an alcoholic and that he needs to quit? NO! That is not my business, I am my business. If he asks about my recovery, I share my experience, strength and hope. If he doesn't, I do not.

I attend AA and we have a saying. Recovery & sobriety is for those that want it, not those who need it. If it was for those who need it, we would have to have our meetings in the football stadium.

You are more than welcome to come here, drink if you want, read if you want, post if you want, or not. Your choice, but know that we are here for you, no matter what you decide!
