You sound right where I was about seven months ago. Sick and disgusted, beaten and used up, looking at a one-way ticket to death. That's what alcohol will do to us.
I don't know about your wife, but I do know if anyone really wants to put an end to the madness they can. I did, and all of the wonderful people here have done so as well. You can, too, if you really want your life to be different.
It helps to get as informed as possible, and checking in with your doctor is always a good idea. There's a lot of great information on alcoholism right here on this forum, from the many threads over the years, to the great stickies on the top of the forum itself.
Hang in there. There's hope and a great life on the other side of the bottle, as well as many people to support you.
