i had kind of a similar experience not too long ago at the store, except the person was someone i knew from open aa meetings. i know he doesn't drive, because he doesn't have a car. but it was hard to see him like that. i talked to a few aa friends about it, and one of them knows the guy better than me and was gonna call and offer him a ride to a meeting. i was pretty mad at that clerk for serving him at first. but then i had to tell myself to mind my own business. sigh.
