I can identify with the not drinking in public - that's how it was in the end for me. I became wild and out of control - couldn't stand the blackouts, the remorse the next day, the apologies.
Became easier, for a time, to just drink at home in private. Kids in bed. Figured no one was getting hurt.
Took a while to see the truth. I was a mess.
