For me my anxieties about my ex were expressed in my dreams (cheating, doing a lot of drugs etc).
I hated it. In retrospect, I think my subconscious was trying to tell me something as he was always doing these things!
I have read the best way to interpret dreams is to explore the emotional contant. I am weary of "universal interpretations".
