Hi doorknob, so sorry about your loss. I had to put down two dogs and a cat over the years. They all made it to old age and their bodies were older than their spirit. Maybe they are up their playing with blue. Yeah, thats what I think their all up their begging for their treats, playing with new toys.....and in no pain...lol hope3.

Thanks again folks. I'm doing alright, I guess... I still break down when I think about him for very long. And when I'm not thinking about him, I'm just numb...

What a beautiful dog and loved so much. Give it time doorknob... give it time. I've known that pain of putting my dog to sleep. It wasn't easy. My heart goes out to you.

Surlyredhead 02-26-2007 07:15 PM

I am so sorry for your loss!! Losing a pet is one of the hardest things I have ever had to deal with, I cried for three days whan my cat Oscar died in my arms...and I was almost 40!!!! My Son tried to console me by saying that maybe God could resurrect him!!!! Out of the mouths of babes (he was 8) I had to tell him that Oscar was in such a good place that he might be mad to come back from heaven...it kind of made me feel better to think that way. Now you have a guardian angel who was your best friend and who is not held back by a body that was beginning to fail!!! Hugs to you!!! It will get better.....

doorknob 02-27-2007 08:17 AM

Thanks everyone. I'm getting better. We have a new pup in the house too. :)

More to come...

Glad to hear Paul.

What's the point of having all that love if you've nowhere to put it? lol!

((((HUGS))))) I lost my companion dog yoko at 5 years old--2 days before her 5 th birthday--a freaky spinal disease--she was paralysed..It came on suddenly with in 24 hours.I got her right before I became disabled---when everyone else walked away cause times were hard for me-she was always there-we did everything together-they had to practically carry me out of the vets office.I brought her home and buried her in my grotto garden she loved so much.Dogs give you unconditional love--you can't get that anywhere esle-except maybe God.I cried and cried and cried and was the worst depressed I have ever been in my life. I understand--it has been almost a year and I still cry about it on occasion. @ days after she passed my mom bought me a new dog on what would have been Yokos B-day.. I really didn't want another one.But I have to admit it kept me busy and gave me a reason to get out of bed..I will be praying for you---no one understands what this feels like except a dog person....My new pup a Cairn Terrier-Lotte is finally becoming close with me---but there is always the memory of that''special one'' it is unreplacible--time will heal you--take care of yourself--be happy for all the joy that soul gave you while it was here.........

Sunflower 02-27-2007 09:59 PM

a new puppy---good for you---!!!!

doorknob 03-01-2007 08:26 AM

She's about 5 months old and her name is Sienna. They think she is a Cattle dog mix. She was very timid and submissive at the shelter and only wanted to hide in a corner or under whatever she could find when we brought her home. It took a couple of days for her just to get up and explore her new environment (atleast when she knew we were watching). I can only imagine what she may have went through over the past 5 months...

Over the last few days we have been smothering her with love and attention, and she is rapidly coming out of her shell and learning that she won't be punished for being a puppy.

historyteach 03-02-2007 02:54 AM

DK,
Thank you for picking the one that needs you the most... :)

Shalom!

This is the first time I've been here. I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been through it many times, so I know how you feel.

Boy, there's something about old dogs that I just love. I think it's the wisdom in their eyes.
