For those struggling with waiting for the miracle to happen it helped me to think the problem was chemical and something I had some control over.

Interacting with folks e.g. offering ideas, empathizing, positive vibes etc create feeling of happiness and contentment. This also comes from doing projects, exercise, petting my doggy, watching a great movie etc etc.

In time, the mind adjusts to the new normal as the original normal (the perfect unaltered brain) is gone forever.

Education about this situation has been a corner stone to my new non drinking, hate booze, life style.

Basically, no mystery. It is science.

Suffering and time. Just because I am periodically suffering (craving) doesn't mean I am doing anything wrong.

It is a process.

Thanks.
