If I were you I wouldn't go no contact. It sounds to me like you don't want to see him only because of his drinking but you would also love to see him. Maybe he could feel that you really didn't want him to stay and that is why he didn't come to stay with you. Just keep your distance from him and try not to feed into his comments. You knew you had a drinking problem and did something about it by stopping, don't think for once he doesn't know he has a drinking problem and just like you it eats him alive.

Thanks for all of your input! I feel like i need to keep my distance from him for awhile. I wrote to him and expressed my thoughts about what happened. I don't expect any explanation or apology because that's the way he is. All i can do is take care of myself and i feel keeping my distance with minimal contact is the best option. It's especially hard because of this virus deal and all because i feel like friends and family should come together but it is what it is. Have a great Friday everyone!
