Oscar night
Applied to some jobs
Plans for next weekend set

Steely 02-09-2020 03:37 PM

I have only just seen your thread Asher. :)

Scrolling down was like watching a story evolve. Was so happy when I saw you hit 20 days. Today must be 3 weeks!

Congratulations Asher you are doing so well.

I'm 56 days today and it feels so good to be free of the shackles. I can move, at last.

Thanks Steely! Although my posts are mostly positive, we all know that learning to stay sober after years of drug or alcohol use is one of the hardest experiences one can undergo especially in the early days. This is a minute by minute, second by second ordeal...One day at a time? I say one second at a time for the type of addict I am. I am glad we are all on this journey together! I can't see your face or hear your voice BUT I think that's what makes this work for me because my AA experience was not as anonymous as the title of the program implies. Yes! we can move at last

3 WEEKS CLEAN & SOBER (21 days)

Yes. It feels strange entering 3 week territory. I have started to feel my feelings and I had been avoiding a lot. A broken engagement, the death of my father, my unfortunate health diagnosis. These were the feelings and experiences I tried to run from. But now that I am sober I can reach out to therapists, doctors, support etc. There is power in sobriety and I am slowly starting to reap the benefits.

Congrats on 21 days!

I agree Asher. The absolute anonymity of SR is what makes it work for me too. I can say things here that I wouldn't say in meetings in fear that 'word would spread'. It's happened to me.

No offence AA people. Many great and good sober people in AA. It helped me once, but don't use it anymore finding SR perfect for me.

Yes it is difficult in the early days Asher, and when you say, "a minute at a time", recall saying to someone that it felt like a heartbeat at a time. Like you, I am slowly starting to reap the benefits.

Forgive me Asher. Did I miss something? You say you have been given an unfortunate health diagnosis. Are you OK?

And like you again, I am beginning to face things that I never thought possible. It's like grief, with joy attached. :(:)

Another big congrats Asher, you are heading towards the mighty month.

Yay, all of us.

22 days!

I saw the Oscar award winner Parasite. It was quite interesting. I also have been struggling to delete all my old using contacts but I think I am going to do it very soon. I mean if I am serious about staying sober..why keep the door open?!

AsherCohn1991 02-11-2020 05:31 PM

Hi Steely. Yes, I am alright. I have a health condition that will require life long observation and care but it is manageable. Staying clean and sober is a big part of keeping things manageable and healthy. And I love that-A heartbeat at a time. Yes, I am very excited and looking forward to the mighty month.

23 days!

Ah I have to admit I am anxious and irritable because Valentines Day is coming up. I was supposed to be with my fiance this year planning our wedding. But life had other plans. Anyway, I have to be strong and get through this holiday.

Anyway going to take things easy these next few days

Dee74 02-12-2020 03:30 PM

I'm sorry Asher - but there will be other Valentines days :)

24 days clean and sober!

Today has had its ups and downs. One of my go to TV show's did not deliver last night and I woke up to the smell of weed coming from outside! My neighbor said it must be coming from outside.

Also, I was not going to post today but then I realized my disease was trying to make me feel isolated. Yay for contrary action :-0)

Good work!

25 DAYS CLEAN AND SOBER

WOHOO. I had a tough day but I knew what was to come. I am always like this on holidays so I was extra cautious. No major major holidays after today until the end of the year so yay!

Dee74 02-14-2020 05:29 PM

Way to go Asher :)
