Was checking in to see how you are too - let us know or even better, come back once you are able to get online during or after rehab so you know we have been rooting for you the whole time! |
I hope you're doing ok SOHC? I hope you got yourself into St. Pat's. I felt very uncomfortable with this thread. Sometimes cutting back and setting a date (not too far into the future), is what is advised, needed. I could be wrong, but it wasn't until far into your thread did you disclose how much you were drinking, tolerance, etc. It may well have been risky for you to stop abruptly. Clearly better to stop stop now, but no one really knew your circumstance. I do hope everything is going alright for you, and that you are in rehab getting well. The break away from the poison will set you on the right track. It is clear that you want sobriety. Fifty two days for me SOHC and it really is so much better. Wishing you well. |
Add me to the list of people checking in to see how you’re doing. Were you able to get into the program you talked about? |
bump. you doing ok? |
I'm in rehab now in St Pats and very grateful to be. 11 days off the poison. |
I'm really glad to hear that Sortofhomecoming :) D |

Thanks all. |
My left ankle is swollen so they had to take a blood test for blood clots (DVT). |
Hope they can help sortofhomecoming D |
Test results came back, they're satisfied it's not a blood clot. Just have to rest up ankle. |
Good to hear! I'm glad you're in a safe place and starting to heal. |

27 days in and things are...ok. Some mood swings but what else can I expect after the limits I took my alcohol abuse to. |
Mood swings will always be a part of our psyche. It is how we learned to run from the saber tooth tiger and not get caught. And then eat when we had food. And sleep when it was safe. And when it was really safe have babies and build better tools and warmer clothes, etc. Moods are in our reptilian deep parts of our brains. Without booze coursing through our bodies, we can learn to recognize when a mood swing is out of balance to what is really happening and we can get back to center so much more quickly and easily. I think mood swings are still around because we cannot outrun a few million years of evolution. But we can, sober, scan our environment and come back to safety. |
Many congrats on 27 days! :c011: |
Struggling with what I think are cravings but could just be boredom, irritability and anxiety. |

In my experience they are all equally concerning and need to be monitored. Get out for a walk if your ankle lets you, give someone a call, if you're in rehab go sit down with someone and talk about it. Say a prayer, or lie in silence telling yourself that you are not the center of the universe, it is not your responsibility to control others, or to control situations. The less we try to put a stranglehold on the world, the less we are disappointed. I'll be checking in on your post so if you need to talk, but post. |
My red ting heart rate always decrease when I sober up. It is a sign your heart isn’t having to work so hard to keep you alive. When I’m bad on the booze my resting heart rate can be 100 for months. Right now it is 62. Anything below 50 may be a concern unless you’re an athlete. But I wouldn’t worry unless you’re getting dizzy spells or feeling light headed. But I’m not a doc, so obviously follow up with a doc if you’re concerned. |
Don't have any symptoms, maybe I shouldn't worry about it. Those numbers above are from Jun 2019 to May 2020. It's striking that it was significantly lower in the months when I wasn't drinking, the full relapse happened in September 2019 and you can see it increasing then. But I'm not an athlete (my physical health is fine, can exercise, but I'm not going to be training for the Olympics any time soon) so I'd be more comfortable if it was a bit higher than currently. Honestly would prefer if it was as it was in Nov 2019, the early 70s mark, except that I was drinking then and don't want to go back to that obviously. |
