I'm 29 & battling stage 4 cancer for the 3rd time...

I don't know how much more I can take. I used to dream about how amazing my life would be when I was almost 2 years sober. But here I am, with stage 4 colon cancer for the 3rd time in under 5 years....All I want is to keep breathing but apparently that's too much to ask...I hope I make it out of this....thanks for letting me vent

Wow Kristen that is a lot...29 years old and you have had this cancer 3 times in under 5 years???? What is happening? Is the Dr not getting it all when they take the polyps? I have never heard of such trauma with someone so young.

I am so, so sorry...but I hope your age is in your favor...Did someone in your family tree die of colon cancer and that is why you have it so young?

Hi Kristin!

I'm sorry for your health condition, but glad that you are sober and posting here at SoberRecovery. Connection with others gives life fullness.

Did you join a class thread when you first signed up for SoberRecovery? It might still be active, and if not, your posting there might get it started again. Here's a couple other good threads to join:

I'm sorry to hear it too Kristin.

I have no experience to share other than I'm in awe of the people I know from SR and my personal life who've faced cancer sober.

They. to me, are true examples of courage and wisdom - of someone not wanting to compromise on principle & give in to fear.

All my prayers and best wishes that you can beat this again :)

Sorry you are having to deal with this Kristin. Awful.

I don't blame you for feeling despondent, who wouldn't in your situation. BUT you have fought it before and you will do it again. You have youth and fight on your side.

I hope this is the last time you have to beat this thing.

Kindest thought and wishes to you. :)

when cancers reach a certain stage, it has metastasized to other sites in the the body. its beyond removing polyps.

kristen, do you have a support network locally?
what is your oncologists plans for treatment? do you have faith in your oncologist?
