HELP!!! Day 3 and AV picthing a MASSIVE fit The advice I got at my last meeting was know when your next meeting is and don't drink before it gets here. Well I know when my next meeting is 7 my time which is in about 3 hours and 45 minutes. I just got off work I'm running errands and of course the AV has reared its ugly head and is screaming at me just one drink! One glass of wine! I told it SHUT UP! We both know It's never JUST ONE!! And It's begging but it'll be different this time I'll do it right!!! 🙄🙄🙄 I KNOW BETTER!! Not gonna happen!!! But I feel pathetic!! It's unbelievable to me after everything that I just went through on Saturday that this is already happening! |
Hang in there, KG. It’s a craving, and cravings pass. Deep breath. Eat something if you can before your meeting. |
Don't listen to that damn AV. Go for a walk! |
pray. pick up your big book and read. call someone in recovery( did ya get numbers yet?) dont let the thoughts control your actions. one second at a time. |
I was pulling into the bank when it hit. (Liquor store in the same parking lot) actually no, if im honest its been nagging at me since i left work... just quietly at first and then more belligerent as I was denying it... it was like WTF is THIS BS???!!! She isn't in charge I AM!!! After I posted I did my bank business, got in my car and drove to the gas station instead (also same parking lot) got a Green Machine smoothie and some almonds. Already feel a little better. Im ready ro drive home. The other errands can wait. BB here I come! Thanks guys!! |
Love the shake idea...that works for me...and Wheatgrass! |
I like that idea, too! |
I dunno if you're a parent KG - I'm not - but it helps me to think of the AV as a toddler Tots will shout and scream, and throw tantrums, but they will tire themselves out eventually and go to sleep. Your AV is the toddler. You're the parent. You can get through this :) D |

Just got in the car to drive to the AA meeting. And for the second time today one of "my songs" came on to remind me why I'm doing this, this time "Prayin". Love it! |
Google urge surfing. It really helps me. Stay strong. |

Well done KG :) Day 3, is famous for being a toughie and you've done really well to get through. You never have to face another one, if you don't want to :) |

As what Dee mentiontioned, your AV is like a toddler throwing a tantrum to get what it wants. You are always in control. Saying NO! (or if you wish to get more explicit) than do it. |

Fantastic resolve. Sorry I was in the wrong time zone to support when you needed it. Seems SR did a great job and you were awesome in your resolve. Love the toddler analogy from Dee. That's a cool way of thinking about it. Day 4 for you now. You beat the AV once - you can beat it again and again now. You proved it to YOURSELF! |
Well Done! Well done KG! Boy do I identify with the feelings/cravings/rather insane thinking! As someone else mentioned, often mine were really hunger signals...when I ate many of them went away. Good reason for my sponsor telling me to have snacks with me at all times to get my blood sugar levels up! Have a greta sober day 4! |
I hope you got control of the AV KG. |
