I started using booze to cope with various things, but I kept drinking long after most of those 'young man' issues faded.

I spent years thinking I needed to know the why to stop.

Nope.

You can just stop...there's always time to work out the why later if it still bugs you.

My addicted self loved me looking for the why cos it meant more drinking while I searched.

I have made it 7 days. The first 5 were no fun at all. Predictable problems sleeping, sweating, tired, hungry, etc. Probably one of the reasons it's so hard to stop. You feel so bad, you want a drink just to feel better. I realize that I just have to ride it out to end the cycle. Really have not had any cravings. Probably because I'm reminded of what's going on 24/7 with the uneasy feeling in my chest. Very, very gradual relief there.

Now on day 9 and am having terrible lower GI pain. Used to be, about 3 days after a big drinking event(whether I continued to drink or not), I would have the gastro issues that I would explain away as stomach cramps. I am baffled now with them arriving so long after last drinking. Hoping that when this passes, I'll be done with the worst of the physical pain. Hope so because my chest is actually starting to do a lot better.

Maybe it's best to see a Dr, Bob?

Going to finish this thread by saying that the lower abdomen pain has subsided and feeling pretty good.

I had a relapse, too. Trying to get over it. Every second we gain is another chance to turn it all around and try again.
