You're right, it does go quickly Susiegirl especially now i'm older. When I was younger I was always willing to go faster in order for it to be payday.

My tenants went last week to his dad's family beach house in Croatia. They texted me over the weekend that they were having a great time.

Today they're coming home. I'm to pick them up at the airport. I got a text at 7 am from the wife letting me know they were in Frankfurt.

They just landed here in DC. The husband face-timed me. He wasn't smiling.

He said that they still hadn't been through customs--and his wife was afraid she'd lost her phone. Did I mention that they'd also been traveling with their 3-y-o and 1-y-o?

I'll pick them up in about a half hour. I'll smile (not too wide), say "Welcome home," then I won't say another word. I'll bet they've really had it!

I wish for their sakes I could send a driverless car to pick them up!

Well, everyone's home safe and sound.

When I got there, the wife immediately started greeting me and asking how my week had been.

The husband pulled it together as best he could, but you could tell he was. Just. So. Done.

I told the wife I was surprised she was so cheerful. She admitted that she'd had some time to "recompose" while the staff searched the plane for her cellphone (which they didn't find). I could tell she was really working hard, going out of her way to be social--because if she cracked that veneer one little bit she'd start throttling people!

Anyway, they're home now. The kids are silent. I'm sure they're all sound asleep by now.

Thx, SoberT. Just arrived an hour ago. House is silent and dark. Let myself in and slid into the spare bedroom. Tomorrow is another day.

In San Francisco for my employer's annual week-long conference. Basically no work gets done for a week while we listen to speakers and have training sessions during the day, then mostly a lot of drunken shenanigans in the evenings --either bar-hopping or in-room parties-- since everybody just kind of has to 'show up' in the morning, rather than having to work. Naturally I'm not partaking. I went for a walk to the waterfront and then came back to the hotel to get some dinner. Ran into a group of colleagues heading out on a beer run, they updated me on which rooms had the really boozy parties. No desire to join them; my mind instantly thought of how I'm going to wake up sober and refreshed in the morning and how so many others are going to be hating life. So glad to be sober!

Well done on avoiding those evening shenanigans DesertDawg. You describe it very well, I can picture it clearly. I have not been there but San Francisco seems like an amazing city so getting a chance to see some of it and walking up hangover free is infinitely preferable to seeing none of it and feeling rough during the daytime.

Gilmer, that was very nice of you to pick up your tenants at the airport. Had to chuckle as it brought back family memories for me. My brother and his family lived overseas until their children were in early elementary school. Visited necessitated a *very* long series of flights.

Once, at some airport along the way, my one-year-old nephew was out-of-whack. While waiting in a line, they realized he had gravitated away toward a man shipping a bicycle. He was so excited he stood there and licked the bike!

Dawg, San Francisco is so beautiful. I hope you're able to enjoy some lovely evening strolls and coffees and enjoy it!
