Day 2 for me/ new to site

Good morning,

I decided yesterday, that I needed to stop drinking. I have been a wine drinker in the evenings for 25 years. Every night, except years ago when I was pregnant, I drink 1-4 glasses. I am done. I need support.
My kids are 13 and 17 and love me very much, but I know I have put them at arms reach at times and I am hurting and need to move forward to improve trust, relationships and family time and life.

I'm looking for ideas on steps to help me stay strong and not drink every evening. Tonight is day 2

I also feel alone and scared for this journey

I feel very nervous, alone and only want this journey to be successful.

Welcome to SR and congrats on 2 days. I am an advocate of making sobriety your #1 priority in life for a period of time. The solution is simple (don't drink), but yet difficult to do for many. I think you will find a wealth of information and support on this forum to help you achieve your goal.

Two days is great Katrinaash!

I found that planning and changing my routine helped a lot. If you usually drink in the evenings, try doing something different. Find something to do that will shake up your routine and take your mind off drinking, even if just for a short while. And, I hope you keep reading and posting.

We're so glad you joined us, katrina. Welcome to an encouraging place.

I felt alone too when I began my journey - but being here helped calm me down & relieved some of the anxiety. No one in my life understood what I was going through - so having SR meant everything. You can get free & have a better life. We are with you.

One day at a time works well for many.
You already have two days.
That is a good start.
Congratulations on making your discission to stop drinking.
Once we know that it's a problem, best to quit.

Hey Katrina!
Congrats on day 2! I'm new here as well and this forum is a great resource. Read other people's stories and post often. I find myself logging in multiple times a day just to check in and remind myself there are other people going through the same thing. You'll get a lot of great support and encouragement from people who have been where we are and have flourished with their sobriety. I never feel alone when I log in. Glad you've joined:)

Welcome!

I hope you'll check in soon and let us know how it's going!
There's lot of great advice and support on this forum. You'll be amazed at what you can get out of it! Have you tried any other recovery programs? There's so many options these days... It's definitely good to have some kind of a plan for when cravings hit.

We have a weekender thread going right now too, as weekends are big triggers for a lot of us to drink. Come join in the fun! http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...13-15-jan.html
