Attempting to quit again

Hi all,

I have realized that alcohol and cigarettes are interfering with my life in a rather negative manner.

This is my umpteenth attempt to get sober. And I hope I can finally achieve what I am setting out for.

I will be using this page to track my progress each day, by checking in and updating on my sobriety.

It's just a little under 24 hours that I haven't drank or smoked.

Needless to say, the withdrawal has kicked in and I don't feel very good at the moment.

Anywho, nice to meet you all and I hope we can continue on this journey together for many years to come! :)

Pippo.

Welcome to the site. I can relate. I have quit so many times I probably have a year with out drinking for the first week.
Some reason I can't stay quit. A friend once told me it is easy to quit but staying quit is the hard part. That is so true for me.
I keep trying to get that first day again. Thanks for coming here and sharing what is going on with you.

Closing in on 48 hours. Feeling a lot better, but not quite 100% just yet.

Thank you everybody, for the warm welcome to the forums. :)

Coming here every day has helped me so much!

I think just admitting it to people made it real for me.

Plus, it helps that there are people here that care whether I am sober or not and provide positive reinforcement for my continued effort to stay clean.

Great decision Pippo

Lots of help/advice available

You are bound to want to pick up at some point - always post on SR first and try to plan for those times when you crave most

Good Luck!

Keep it going Pippo :)

Have you thought any about how you'll stay sober - do you have a plan?

It has been 4 days. My mental faculties are back at optimal levels.

The only plan that I have when it comes to dealing with cravings is to remind myself of the nasty things I have done / encountered while under the influence.

Not to mention, the 3 day hangovers (one of which I just got out of- so the memory is quite fresh) where I am quite literally- a zombie.

If the above won't keep me from bashing myself up again, I'm not really sure what will.

I cannot live like that anymore. More importantly, I don't want to.
