Thx FnB- I use a free image hosting service -- I use postimage.org but there are others. All you do is upload your image from your hard/thumb drive or the cloud, and it hosts the image with a URL. After you upload the image, resizing if wanted, you copy the URL (from the direct link option) and insert it in your post, bracketed by the tags [img] and [/img]. Glad to help & <3 the penguins! I was up early enough and far enough out in an outer borough to see members of the morning glory family in bloom today. They were probably Calystegia sepium, called hedge bindweed, bearbind, hooded bindweed, old man's nightcap, bride's gown, wedlock, white witches hat, belle of the ball. When I was a little bitty kid, my father bought me a packet of morning glory seeds to plant in our back yard. They climbed up the legs of an old swingset too rusted-over to use and bloomed every morning all summer. 1 Attachment(s) Hi everyone, been away from the forum for a bit... The abundant red color reminded me of some old projects about smoke, using images of smoke and coloring them virtually. They were collaborative projects as I have never had too much skill in photography... more on the Photoshop and other "image distortion" side. So I guess in this context, the Universe has gifted us with beautiful forms, and then we humans have created technology to alter the manifestation of some of these forms. Here is an example, hoping that it won't trigger anyone's trying to quit smoking :) |

1 Attachment(s) I was a long time smoker, too, courage. And yes, I think my "break from the forum was for some relaxation or healthy productivity". Sober and doing some things I have not done before, including working steps with my AA sponsor. Also lots of family events with my husband. It's not my family of origin but I am interested and try to participate. This is the pot of plants I got for Father's Day... for the memory of my dad and us. They put all these plants, some with quite different environmental needs, in one pot. It stands on our terrace for now in a spot that gets moderate and changing sun, but I plan to separate and re-plant them later in the fall according to what I learn about their needs. |
A little patience...a big payoff 1 Attachment(s) Neither of my hydrangeas bloomed last year. And a couple of weeks ago they looked like they were on their last legs. My friend thought I should replace them with some other plants that might like that location better. I decided to give them time. Last week they decided to get in the game and shot out lovely greenery and then these wonderful blooms came out this week. The first one is a my favorite blue. And the second one now has what looks like quadruple blooms (they were small and seemed to be single when I purchased them 5 years ago). I have never seen blooms this big on a hydrangea. They are at least a foot wide. It was a really cool surprise...a nice gift from the universe which made me smile. A little patience and a bit of faith really paid off. (I'm not able to attach a second photo. Will do it in a second post.) |

1 Attachment(s) Last weekend I saw and experienced something I'd never heard of before. Kinetic Sand. From Wikipedia: "Kinetic Sand is a three-dimensional building toy made of 98% sand and 2% polydimethylsiloxane (a type of silicone oil) that mimics the physical properties of wet sand. Kinetic Sand was originally designed for sculpting but is commonly sold as indoor play sand for children. In appearance it resembles light brown sugar. It can be molded, it sticks to itself but not to most other materials or surfaces, and it does not dry out." I heard of it from a psychotherapist friend, who works with children and has a large pot of it in his office. Not sure how childish, but I immediately envisioned creations... This was in British Columbia, in a World Championship of Sand Sculpture making, of sand. Hopefully not in my coffee (as brown sugar) though... |
