Thx, Aellyce. Makes me think of amber. Much as I appreciate the disintegration of memory, it's also wonderful to see things preserved.

The pocket park is beautiful, Courage. Reminds me a little of the park where my husband and I were married. It was a little patch of green with a water feature and was sort of plopped down in the middle of some skyscrapers downtown. :)

I have no name;
I am but two days old.'
What shall I call thee?
'I happy am,
Joy is my name.'
Sweet joy befall thee!

Starting the day with Songs of Innocence. . . well done courage :)

These are some of the things that amaze me. The pic is Abell 1689 taken with the Hubble telescope. Each cluster of light is an entire galaxy as big or bigger than our Milky way. The light you see is over 2 billion years old.

courage2 06-27-2016 07:51 PM

thx jd.

More light-sights, closer to (my) home. On a rainy night in the city, these construction lights bob around like fairy lanterns.

A multitude of generations have flapped their way forth from this bush - year after year after year. The song of regeneration is manifested hope and a gift for us all!

Fabulous thread :c011:

I love this thread :)

And I love exploring the swamp. Have done it in different continents and I can never get bored with the richness of it

courage2 06-28-2016 08:33 PM

It's wonderful how we intersect here. Aellyce loves the swamps and she posts a picture of mist rising in a swamp -- I walk down 1st Avenue on a foggy night. The coincidence of our experiences makes me investigate fog, and I learn about foghorns. High frequency, short-wavelength sounds travel poorly in fog -- the waves get lost bouncing back and forth against all the tiny droplets of moisture in the fog. Hence, the low voices of foghorns:

falcon not related to Mayne Island:)

Mayne is my favourite of all the Gulf Islands, and just a short ferry ride from here. have rented a cabin there many times, though not nearly often enough:)
how bizarre you picked that particular example!

Thx fini!

The skin of a peach is said to be pubescent, because of the fuzz. The fuzz may be there to protect against frost. I wish I could post smells.

I was out walking in a very hard rainstorm tonight. It reminded me of when I've lived places with monsoon seasons. A good monsoon is a wonderful thing.

Aellyce 07-02-2016 03:58 AM

Courage, I was out walking during the same rainstorm (I think) yesterday :)

When I was in college, I was required to take a Meteorology class, which totally captured and fascinated me. Subsequently, I decided to take a couple more semesters in that field just out of curiosity. (Oh, and I had a crush on one of the young instructors giving the classes :08:)
That "crush" on Meteorology led into a few years of fascination with Chaos Theory, Dynamical Systems, and mathematical model design to study the (infamously unpredictable nature of the) weather. I seriously considered those as a career choice for a while. Finally did not; it was just a rather short love affair, but I still like to read and learn about it as a lay person.

This is for a more meditative take, talking about a storm on a sunny day :)

Mangos are best eaten in the ocean, naked, up to the waist in surf.
Eat, dunk, and and enjoy the salty sea aftertaste trailing the
honey-dense flavor of concentrated tropical sweetness. . .

courage2 07-02-2016 11:44 PM

I expect it was the same storm, Aellyce. A doozy :)

Hawkeye, when my husband was a baby, they used to put him naked in a tub with a mango! ;)

I saw swans & cygnets out the window of the train to Newark airport in New Jersey today. Not known as the most beautiful landscape in creation, but...

Every time I eat a mango I think it must be the most wonderful food on earth. :)
