"Because I'm sober I can"..... Topic of the meeting I went to this evening. I shared and I usually don't Because I'm sober I can wake up on time for work and actually work. I can start cleaning up my drunken mess I created for myself and my family. |
Great thread getitright :) Now that I'm sober I can make it up hills on my bike without having to get off because I'm not so hungover my head feels like it's going to explode! x |
Because I'm clean I can...
|
"Because I'm sober I can" 1) Eat healthier foods. 2) Sleep well 3) Wake up "with the chickens" 4) Have 1000% less anxiety 5) Remember everything; well almost. 6) Not be a grouch with a hangover or worse. 7) Be more optimistic about everything. 8) Save $$$ for much more important reasons. 9) Be super-functional; in general. 10) More things than I can list here. |
Because I'm sober I can be a good friend, daughter and sister. Rather than making everyone worry all the time and then throwing it back in their face. Because I'm sober I can hold down a job, volunteer and go back into study to build a better future for myself. Rather than being disappointed to find that I've survived the night. :scared: |
Now I can... Be a better ... husband and father ... employee ,,, Christian ... etc |
Because I can enjoy a night out sober drive anywhere I want to have no regrets wake up feeling fresh as a daisy treat myself to new clothes have better relationships with my friends and family like myself live life rather than just surviving be free |
Now I'm sober I can; Take part in an exercise class without sweating buckets more than anybody else. Communicate effectively any time of day. Drive anytime. Enjoy proper sleep. Keep up with housework. More seriously, begin to take a sober look at my life and whilst scared of the changes needed, realise that I am capable of doing something about some of it. Great thread, thank you. xx |
My favorite things about being sober: I can write legibly without my hands shaking. I can afford brand-name food items in the grocery store. I can look people straight in the eye without worry over my appearance. It's little things that are making me the happiest right now... |
Be available in an emergency. I got sober when my kids were in high school and I was glad I was sober so that I could drive somewhere to pick them up if something happened. The guilt of not being able to pick up my daughter, because I'm too drunk to drive, and she is in a uncomfortable situation would have been overwhelming. |
Because I'm sober, I can take good care of my dogs and cats. The care they need and deserve. :) I can sleep now and wake up feeling good. :) And I no longer hate myself. :) |
Brilliant thread - think I'm gonna post here every day. Because I am sober I can: - start rebuilding my self-esteem - give my students the lessons they deserve - be fully present with people |
Because I'm sober I can Deal with problems the proper way Be more responsible Lose some weight Do the things I want to do Become who I was meant to be Nice thread |
Because I am sober I can make all the positive changes in my life that I can possibly imagine...one day at a time. |
Grow. I thinking we stop growing and become stagnant when we drink. |
Nice thread, and great answers.....:c011: Because I am sober I can get up early every day, and enjoy the beautiful morning! |
Because I am sober I can be proud of myself. |
Because I have freedom from alcohol, I can go anywhere, do anything, that free men can do, except drink (no choice in that). |
Recently back on the wagon but more determined than ever. I can... Help out my elderly neighbors (do there yard work) Play with my kids. Not passifying play. But real play like "war" and tea parties. Be productive at work, like i am paid to be |
Because I'm sober I woke up well rested and went cheerfully into work. On a Monday! I could be relied upon to not only take my son to his game, but pick up another player and parent too. I have lost weight and exercise means something. I don't worry I smell like a bar. I can talk more openly. I can sit here outside at night, enjoy the quiet, reflect, and just be. |
. . .identify with the struggles everyone on this site is going through and can offer hope that my recovery can be yours too. |
Because I'm sober...... I can be part of this very strong group of people here who show that it can be done. Even if it takes more than one try. Thank you all. |
Because I am sober I can now proudly look in the mirror without being filled with revulsion and shame. |
....look people in the eye even when I slip up in work or life, knowing that my best was genuinely my best. |
Because I'm sober I can wake up clear headed and not filled with anxiety. I can keep working on saving my marriage Able to plan and organize and actually remember This is a sad one...because I'm sober my wife isn't scared to be around me |
Because I am sober I can allow myself to love again...... |
Because I am sober - I have hope for the future. I see beauty and possibility instead of doom and gloom, woe is me. I am not hiding shame, I can look people in the eye. I can answer my phone late in the evening. I am free to make plans to do whatever, whenever, and with whomever, without calculating my need to drink. I am not constantly worried about the damage alcohol caused to my health. Did I say I have hope for the future? :hyper |
Because I'm sober I can remember what I did the night before. No more blackouts |
I can feel my emotions and release them and start healing myself |
