Hi Sooty,

Congratulations on 28 days sober. I don't use AA, but if you have a sponsor, likely she will help you with the steps.

Welcome to SR, Angie, and congratulations on seven clean and sober months.

Sooty,

Welcome and great job on 7 months.

Why don't you join the thread for the month you stopped. August 2015??

There is also a 12 step thread if you want to check it out.

This is a great place; glad you are here.

Hi any advice I feel sorry for myself cause everyone went to a big dinner dance and I couldn't cause I was afraid I would drink I feel like I'm not going to be part of the memories of things anymore cause I wasn't there and I felt jealous when everyone was talking about the laughs and great time they had also had family visit and drink kept coming into my head cause that's what we would do anytime family came an to top it off my best friend asked me if I would be able to go on holiday with her but I had to say no cause I know I'm not strong enough to.
I know I'm sitting on the pity pot at the moment but and I know I keep saying it's not fair can anyone tell me what I could read in the big book to help Thankyou Angie xx

Sooty,

9 months clean here. So same time frame?

I go places where booze is served. Parties and casinos etc. In all cases the anxiety before the event is the trigger for me. I get the crave before I go. That was always my thing. Drink before and then brink a flask...if my wife was driving...

Now i dont drink before and once I am there I do great. I tend to feel sorry for the drinkers because I know, and respect, what booze can do.

Everyone is different though. I always look around when I am out and notice how few people are drinking. Last night I noticed 3 people out of about 50 drinking.

I am not a BB reader these days. I have a hard copy and an online link. I have read parts of it before and enjoy how it relates to me in so many ways.

Alcohol is poison. Don't believe the hype.

Do you have an in person sponsor? Work with them and get through those steps!!
