11 months and significant brain healing

It's happening !!!

You guys. Omg. It's really finally happening.

I am experiencing major leaps in cognitive abilities, spacial abilities, anxiety, panic attacks, driving. Everything is starting to make sense for the first time in my whole life.

There is a palpable peace, serenity, a "knowing" , that I'm not only turning a corner, I'm takin' that sucker at 70 mph on two wheels !!

I can not believe life can feel like this.

On my knees in gratitude and mercy.

Don't. Give. Up.

This is one of the most inspiring posts I've read recently, and there are a lot of really good ones on here.
Thank you for giving me motivation to continue after slipping a little over the turkey day!

Happy for you :)

Been about 11 months for me as well and I know exactly what your talking about. Brain feeling better anxiety and concentration is better than it has been in forever. It is not something that happens in a few weeks or months but significant time.

For anyone on the fence about quitting or not seeing results in the first few months keep on going for, you will see them eventually and it is great.

silentrun 11-29-2015 06:51 AM

Woot Woot!!!! You were pretty damn insightful even at your low. Imagine how awesome you are becoming.

Solarion 11-29-2015 06:54 AM

AO and sva777, thank you for posting. That's good news for a lot of us in early sobriety! :)

In most cases of sobriety -- ones getting sober
those are the signs we will see within the first year or two
oh yes - some fortunate ones will experience them fairly soon.

It was several months before I saw the up side of sober life.

We must remember what awaits us if we return
to run with the liquid devil.

Most important -- "On my knees in gratitude and mercy."

Good luck and keep doing what you have been doing.

Fantastic AO!! :You_Rock_

Yukyuk 11-29-2015 01:51 PM

Congrats, that's awesome. :)

I'm only about 3+ weeks in myself and the other morning I had a moment like you described but it really only lasted for a few hours. I was so clear headed and happy it was ridiculous. I hope that someday I can feel like that the majority of the time. And your post gives me true hope for that.

wehav2day 11-29-2015 02:34 PM

AO, woooohooooo!!

Wonderful post!! That happened for me around the year mark, ain't it awesome!

I've had some **** days since then, it's not all awesome all the time. But man I feel like that wonderful period totally recharges our batteries and the stuff can hit the fan tomorrow but it can't take this away.

It will keep getting better, girl!

Hevyn 11-29-2015 02:40 PM

Wonderful to know you're filled with hope & anticipation for the future. :)

Leshar 11-29-2015 07:22 PM

I'm very happy for you, AO. My brain symptoms are still a struggle after 2 years 5 months and I'm fed up waiting for some modicum of stability. They say for some it may take up to 5 years to get your marbles in order.
Enjoy!!

wehav2day 11-29-2015 07:29 PM

Hugs, (((((leshar))))))

I hope it gets better for you! We do know by now though that there's no problem out there that drinking can't make worse.

shortstop81 11-29-2015 07:42 PM

Awesome post, thank you for this. This is exactly what I needed to read right now.
