Day one again

Why won't I learn? Been falling into my old ways and sneaking off drinking by myself. Managed to complete a full day in work after drinking last night. But I can't take the anxiety I feel. I need to stop this before it gets worse but with Christmas round the corner I'm petrified. Please help guys. I need to stay on this wagon this time. I feel lost and lonely.

Hi Boombox, I'm glad you posted. Have faith that you will be able do this. What changes can you make to your plan so that you don't feel the need to sneak off and drink alone? Are there healthy activities you can substitute?

I don't know, I feel completely unmotivated at the moment. Just want to curl up into a little ball and die :-(

Welcome back, boombox; I am glad that you posted.

Have you considered yoga or meditation for the anxiety? Do you get daily exercise even if it is as simple as a short walk?

I don't know if you have seen these links:

How did you feel during the time you were not drinking?

zombob 11-10-2015 06:19 PM

Just read one of your older posts "what a difference..." Go back and read that. It really does feel That much better. I'm at a bit over 2 and feel human again. A week is not long--neither is 2 to feel human and hopeful again. Hope to see you posting like That soon.

Boombox - You sound disgusted - and that's a good thing. Maybe this is the last time you'll have to feel this way. Please keep posting - you can do it.

I hear you. I know the holidays can be tough for us during recovery. I know for me itll be one of the first that I intend on not drinking. Granted I planned on not drinking last time and a phone to hang out turned into 3 days straight drinking and partying only to feel like crap for a week.

I have an added reason why I'm not drinking due to an injury.

However, the thing that stick in my mind is how crappy I feel after. To avoid that come down I'd keep drinking. Eventually something would happen were I had to stop for a while. Thank God I've stayed stopped thus far.

Good luck to you. With the right mind state and support you'll be ok.

Boombox, I believe you can turn yourself around no matter how close to the holidays this is. I'm nervous about the holidays too. We'll have to all pull together though. We can make it. You are worth a fight!
