You're a human being. You have emotions and weaknesses and fears. We all do.

Your way of dealing with Being Human and responding to emotions and weaknesses and fears has been through numbing and bolstering and chasing them away with alcohol and / or drugs.

And you've been doing it so long you don't know what else to do. It's hard to get out of that rut. It's an awfully powerful cycle. But you're here, you're taking steps, there's a YOU inside that knows "this is not the life I want".

That's the YOU you really are.... YOU are not the drugs, YOU are not the alcohol. YOU are not the mistakes, the failures, the fears, the shame, the regret....

YOU ARE NOT AN IDIOT.

Stop beating yourself up.

Start living for that YOU inside.

Awesome post! I was feeling all these things this week. Just for listening to AV saying "you can really just have one drinks with co-workers" WRONG. I can't because I'm an alcoholic. I was pretty down on myself. Thanks for the post!
