I think it's huge that you are here on SR trying to get sober. The fact that you realize drinking isn't a positive thing in your life and that you need to make changes is so important. You are right to know that if your boyfriend and friends want to spend their time drinking then you will need to not spend time with them. It may seem like a boring proposition to stay at home when you could be "out", but you will feel so much better by doing so. Have you checked out any recovery methods? AA is a great way to surround yourself with likeminded sober people. I've found it very helpful to read rational recovery - it helped me separate what my addict voice wants and what I want. Posting here helps too. I joined the Class of April and it's been very helpful to go through the milestones (and cravings) with our group.
