Really? I lasted 2 days again. Then drank last night. I am so hungover today. I totally regret buying that bottle. I really need to listen to everybody here. Log into SR before having that drink and talk to you all until the cravings go away. This is the only help I have. I can't approach my wife because I know she will leave me and take the kids. Once again so sick and tired of feeling this way. Where do I post when I'm having the desire to drink? In this forum or ?? Please help me. I'm embarrassed that I can't stop. Anybody else feel this way? Thanks for listening. |
Post in this forum any time you need help! |
You can post anywhere. "Newcomers" is probably the best place, lots of activity. If you have any drink left, maybe throw it out. Don't buy any today. Go to bed sober. It's not easy, but it is simple. I don't think shame and regret serve much good purpose. It was a stumble. Dust yourself off and go at it again. |
Hi, TFC18, I think this would be the best forum for such emergencies. But that won't work unless you actually post and commit to riding out the impulse/craving/whatever until it passes. What are you going to do for those times when you're just determined to drink rather than post? At any waking moment, you have the power of choice -- remember that. Are there moments when you lose that power of choice, when you are sleepwalking or going around on automatic? Consider what state you are typically in when that happens, so you can be aware of and try to avoid that automatic behavior. Remember HALT: Hungry, Angry*, Lonely, Tired -- consider those red alerts to check your condition and do something healthy about it before you fall into an addictive zombie state and head for the drink again *A is a wildcard for me -- it can also be: Anxious or Agitated Also, why is SR the only help you have? Toronto must have other resources you could make use of to help you maintain sobriety. Wishing you the best! :) |
Go at things again but change up your plan, willpower only got me soo far, in isolation after a few days I always drank too. Posting is a good way forward, reach out for support here on SR when you need it!! :) |
Liberated, I have had to fill my time with something to do the second I get home(I was an alone drinker). Clean the house, read a book, go for a walk, cook something for yourself, draw a picture, learn something new. Is there anything that you used to love to do before alcohol did it's best to try and get you to forget that you loved to do it? Idle time for an alcoholic is like gasoline for a house fire. For I time I forgot that there was anything else to do but drink. |
Keep trying whats your plan ? |

Time to change your plan. If it's not working then you need to change what you're doing or add more to it. |
I don't have a definate plan yet. I'm working on it. Thanks for all the responses. I will be on here when I get the urge. I am also looking in going to AA meetings. Just looked up the schedule and there are lots of meetings I can attend. I have to do this. I can do this. Thank you everybody. |
Got rid of all the alcohol. Going to bed sober tonight. Day 1 again. Thank you everybody. I'm going to make myself proud of me. |
Yay! Meetings are good. Especially good to go to them at your regular drinking times. Just go with an open mind and listen to the stories. You don't even have to say anything unless you want to. I'm glad you're going to bed sober :) |
Post anywhere :) Maybe you need to give some though to a definite plan? http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...at-we-did.html |
