I'm not in the US. And it's 5 AM over here. :) I had trouble sleeping so I checked in. So much support. And the fact that my mom is actually sleeping here to help me, it brings to light the deep love I've always had for her.

I feel pretty great. But I know there's a long, hard road ahead. But I'll be safe. In 4,5 hours I'll be talking to my doctor. That feels safe.

Alright, back to trying to get some sleep. I'll keep you up to date!

michael1111 12-19-2014 09:47 PM

Still not sleeping. Sober though. So this will be my date. Looking forward to the doctor's appointment.

Just so you know, I won't be taking my pc with me and I have, yes, this is true, a Nokia 3310. One of the best phones ever made. Perfect quality and reception. No internet though.

So if everything suddenly happens fast and I get sent to rehab right after the doctor's appointment, I won't be able to report back. Just know that that's a good thing.

michael1111 12-20-2014 05:11 AM

Ok, everything is happening fast. The doctor considered it important that I get into rehab asap. I leave in about an hour. I'm packing up my stuff.

It's a facility where they specialize in every phase, including the detox and withdrawal symptoms I was so afraid of. They have medical staff. It feels safe.

So I'll probably be gone for a while.

I wanted to let you know that I'm getting help and am doing well. I'll stay logged in until I have to leave. And if I do log out, you can trust I'm off to get the help I need.

Thanks! It might be a while before I return though. The time someone's treatment takes depends on the person and it can be up to 13 weeks.

I know you will do whatever it takes to make the most of your rehab experience.

We'll throw a great sober party when you get back, michael.

One of the best things about working on sobriety is to feel your sense of self-worth returning. I think you've made a great and courageous leap by reaching out to your family. Congratulations!

After reading through this entire thread, I am just so proud and humbled by how much support and direction poured out of Sober Recovery Group. This was me a week ago exactly like Michael's story. I am so proud of everyone here for reaching out to the poor lost souls who need help in dire times. It makes me soooo HAPPY to have found such a power full in Sober Recovery to combat the illness that has us in its grips. Just makes me wonder why are the governments of the world not funding this SR.
