Passed a test Yesterday I had a birthday for a friend of my daughter's. I had mentioned that I don't drink to the mom. (First time we have ever hung out.) Yesterday when the wine came out they kind of became awkward and asked me if it was ok. I told her that of course it was and I poored the wine and initiated a toast with my glass of water... when she first offered it caught me off guard but Mananged and I was proud. I thank the tools I have gathered here for helping me handle these situations. I had a great time and when I left, it was great to know that I wasn't driving drunk, that I wouldn't get home and want more and that I wouldnt have a hang over today. Sober life is great! I'm so happy for my little victory. Little victories win the war. |
Well Done! |
Thanks ThePatman. I need the validation. Still very little support from the actors in my real life. |
Little victory = Huge success. Well done, nowsthetime. |
The mom said that she looked forward to more playdates so I guess that not drinking wasn't really an issue. But I did notice she got uncomfortable when the wine came out but I think the way I handled it was great. I really do not mind of others drink. My AV did whisper but I'm on to it so no biggie there either. |
Awesome The 'little' victories are the war :) |
You handled it very well, nowsthetime. The unease that the other mom showed was most likely an expression of respect. |
Great job on pushing through!! :scoregood |
That's a significant achievement, Nowsthetime, and a lovely post :thanks |
