Tired of being drunk I'm new to this website. I tried AA, but they were being a bit aggressive with me and it scared me off. I'm sick of alcohol and I'm sick of being drunk. I really need help to stop. I hope that this site can help me. |
Hey there Rosie321, Welcome :=] Nice to have you here. |
Welcome to SR.

I hope that this site can help me. There was a time when someone just telling me I drank too much set me off as being aggressive, much less the recovery message of AA. But guess what? When I was ready...really ready to get sober, I welcomed all the support and help I could harness. |
welcome Rosie. SR is a great place to find support and learn about all the different methods of recovery. Some even use SR as their main support mechanism. Regarding your AA experience, remember that it's the people you met that may have been agressive, AA by itself is not. If you feel it would help, try some different meetings. There are literally dozens in your area Alcoholics Anonymous (A. A.) Meetings in Redlands, California In the meantime, know that most of us were exactly where you are at some point - sick and tired of being sick and tired. There is a much better way, stick around and ask lots of questions. |
welcome Rosie |
Hi. If you’re an alcoholic this disease needs to be addressed aggressively and AA has the experience to address the problem. I needed this approach as did many others, the medicine may not be to our liking at times but it leads to a healthy sober and comfortable long term recovery IF the program is followed. As was told me when I first approached “if you have misgivings your misery is refunded-no charge!” The door is always open and alcoholics are always welcome. BE WELL |
Glad you are here Rosie - A great group for support & understanding!! |
Welcome to the forum and to SR nice to meet you |
Welcome!! This site has been a tremendous help to me.. I believe you are at the right place |
Rosie, there are many ways to stop drinking and if you take a look around, you will see that people have many different ideas about how to achieve sobriety. The bottom line, of course, is to do what works for you. And, SR is a good place to stay. |
Welcome Rosie :wavey: Glad to have you with us. |
Welcome Rosie! This is a great community with a ton of support. Bottom line though is you have to want sobriety... Want it more than anything else today. I'm new to recovery, and this community has made all the difference between me being drunk and staying sober. Stay close to SR, read through old threads. If you are like many of us here, you will find a lot of stories that are almost identical to yours in many ways. Welcome to SR. |
Welcome to the Forum Rosie!! |
Hey Rosie321- Welcome! As has already been mentioned, this site can offer support, which I think you'll find useful as you move forward with your goals. I look forward to seeing you around! Lusher |
Hi Rosie You made a great decision to come here. This is a great first step. Lots of inspirational stories on here. Wish only the best for you. |
Hi and welcome: There are many forms of support. Have you researched AVRT or RR? This is a great community. Read and post. It really made a difference for me. |
Welcome to the family. :) |
Hi and welcome Rosie :) D |
I know what you mean by aggressive people in AA. I had to shop around for a while to find one that I was comfortable with. It isn't easy and takes some time. I also had to change my approach to AA. I don't know how many meetings you have tried, but each meeting can be very different. I would suggest trying several meetings if you can. SR is great, but being around other people with the same problem can also be very helpful. John |
