What do you do for a living?

I am a professional writer and I have web-based businesses.

How about you?

Notmyrealname 10-27-2014 01:05 PM

Licensed attorney, not in practice, working at large corporation (to remain unnamed) for another 20-30 years until I hit 65 and then I'm riding off into the sunset on my pension-plan pony.

ArtFriend 10-27-2014 01:13 PM

You have a pension? I am impressed!! I thought they did away with those...

Unable to work now. Semi retired on disability. Used to work in manufacturing. Running machines and such. Boring work. Gave me carpal tunnel.

tommyinphilly 10-27-2014 01:44 PM

I'm a Philadelphia fireman. What do you write?

suki44883 10-27-2014 01:45 PM

Legal Assistant in large firm.

I've been self employed IT consultant since 1996, which means I have many bosses (every one of my clients). I help small businesses manage their technology.

Painting contractor/decorative painter/plasterer, self-employed.

I also make money on the side from freelance writing and have three published non-fiction books which are still doing quite well.

I gamble for a living, Blackjack card-counting, casino promotion hustling, sports betting, you name it. If I find a way to legally get a mathematical edge over a casino game, I will bet it. I loath casinos because their marketing tactics are similar to the alcohol industry. I take enmourse pride in beating casinos at their own game.

Just to be clear, I don't have a gambling problem. I only bet money when I have a mathematical edge over the house. I've been gambling for a living for 15 years now, and I've only had one losing year (less than 10k), and I didn't play much that year. Most years, my gross win exceeds 6 figures. I mention this not to brag, but to dispel any notions that I'm a gambling degenerate. I'm not; actually I don't like gambling that much, but this vocation allows me to make a decent living, and live the lifestyle I prefer to live.

I did some freelance travel writing and photography in the early 1990's. I did have some minor success getting my spec articles published, but I found it to be a tough way to make a living.

I earn the money to live and buy things by editing member letters at a PBM. It is my job.

I do not do that for a living though. After 17 years at one company I learned that my resume is not going on my headstone. I work and I get paid for it. That is all my job is to me. I rarely bring it home.

I make a living at having fun, enjoying life with my family, friends and my pets.

Over the weekend I raked leaves. My BF came up and tackled me into a large pile. It was grand. That is how I make a living :D

I just went back to work a month ago as an event coordinator for a very large school corporation. Before this I was a stay at home mom for 7 years.

so2014 10-27-2014 04:56 PM

Stay at home mom. previously an attorney, and before that, an actuary. Thinking I need to go back to work soon, but am afraid I'm pretty unemployable after 10 years at home.. ...

Ythill 10-27-2014 05:18 PM
