For me, this tune brings to mind that bittersweet "moment" we eventually (hopefully) face...that it's time...time to sober up...find some sort of faith in life, love, ourselves and others.. And it's not someone who's seen the light It's a cold and it's a broken, hallelujah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q7TRVOM9KQ |
When I think of you in the city The sight of you among the sites I get this sudden sinking feeling Of a man about to fly Never kept me up before Now I've been awake for days I can't fight it anymore I'm going through an awkward phase I am secretly in love with Everyone that I grew up with Do my crying underwater I can't get down any farther All my drowning friends can see Now there is no running from it It's become the crux of me I wish that I could rise above it The National - "Demons" - YouTube |
Lana Del Rey's battle with addiction - to me this scream cocaine. Carmen, Carmen, staying up til morning Only seventeen, but she walks the streets so mean It's alarming truly how disarming you can be Eating soft ice cream Coney Island Queen Lana Del Rey -Carmen lyrics - YouTube |
The Good Times are Killing Me - Modest Mouse -------------------------------------------------------- Lyrics: Got dirt, got air, got water and I know you can carry on. Shrug off shortsighted false excitement and oh what can I say? Have one, have twenty more "one mores" and oh it does not relent. The good times are killing me. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL1cRSRUUZQ |
Not really a religious person, but this pretty nicely fits what turned out to be the end of the line for my drinking career. Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down - YouTube |
I want to live where soul meets body And feel the sun wrap it's arms around me And bathe in water, cool and cleansing And feel, feel what it's like to be new |

This is a powerful song and even more powerful video. It is difficult for me not to cry watching it. ***Warning, for those who might be triggered, the video has several short clips of drug and alcohol abuse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aM8saMdA04 |

The Hold Steady "Hot Soft Light" Started recreational, ended kinda medical... Came on hot and soft and then it tightened up its tentacles.... Describes my experience pretty well... |

No I didn't wow - thank you! Momentary Lapse of reason was my first concert and my first date that I went on back in '86 I believe. Foxboro Stadium outside of Boston. I was in the 8th grade and was in awe of the Pig that floated across the sky and the lasers that created a liquid sky. It was a spiritual experience for me. Or at least it seemed that way to me. I was a bit older than you at the time. I was 21. |
For ours the Pig came across the stadium on a wire over our heads (I was in the general admission area on the floor). The liquid sky was pretty unreal. I had never been to a rock concert and I was hooked. One the best experiences of my teens. |
Oh guys, you're killing me, having seen Pink Floyd live! I'm sure I would have been similarly blown, JD. Here is something very chill if someone would like to listen to something relaxing and not distracting while doing boring tasks on the computer or something. This does not have video but it's a whole album, by Jon Hopkins, I really like his work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX5M65ghzvI |
