Saac, I can only tell you how great I feel staying sober a day at a time that is everything to me. I am glad you are getting those days for your self. :approve:

saac 12-22-2004 06:24 AM

KCKMAN thank you for your reply I have a ways to go but I am ready for the fight. I will beat this demon inside me one way or another, but not w/o all of your help. Looking forward to many more sober days and nights.

You're welcome, saac! And congrats on your 5th day!

Alcohol was not my drug of choice ultimately, but it is what I started and ended my using with, and I did drink moderately heavily (if that's not an oxymoron), especially when I couldn't have my favorite. I don't miss the opiates all that much though, ironically enough, but I DO miss the booze sometimes. But the benefits definitely outweigh the negatives!

A year without drinking? WONDERFUL! I hadn't realized the damage I was doing to my body until I went to treatment and started UNdoing it. My pulse and blood pressure dropped. My extremities quit swelling up. I saved money. I saved time. I saved headaches, literally. I made sober friends and had fun sober. With the Steps, I have gained serenity and acceptance, a peace of mind I NEVER expected possible!

Have you tried AA yet, saac? None of this would be possible without a fellowship and the Steps, for me at least. I highly suggest you give it a go. What have you got to lose? A lot of pain and heartache, that's what!

Peace, love, and hugs,
Eddie

Alcohol or drugs. It's all the same.A wall we build with substances to seperate us from the real world and the people who care about us.Tear down the wall and put up a hammock.Or at least a recliner.

kckman 12-22-2004 06:13 PM

An electric recliner with massage and heat.

eddie z. 12-22-2004 06:54 PM

Yeah, alcohol IS a drug. I know. I just find it odd sometimes that what I crave is alcohol and not the other, you know? Oh, and I think I'll go with the hammock. LOL.

731 days!!!

Love and hugs,
Eddie :lighter:
