Nuudawn so glad to see you back. I've taken a very simplistic approach to friendships/relationships, etc. in my recovery. If someone isn't enriching my life or adding to it in any way I've cut them loose. Draconian, yes....effective, absolutely.

Yup, yup, yup! Chaos and drama effectively removes me from dealing with my own self/life...it escapism along the lines of alcohol. Now that I think of it, I have used the same analogy to him..as I have with alcohol...

Our relationship just spins wheels in mud...no progress..no movement forward.
I have said the exact same thing bout my relationship with alcohol.

Wow...

With so many of these responses...I find myself nodding vigorously at the computer screen.
Wish there was a "ya, ya EXACTLY!!!" button.

Thanks all.

The analogy that I would sometimes use with alcohol was that it was like a really bad relationship but good sex. You keep coming back for the good sex but in the back of your mind you know the relationship is going to result in a train wreck.

Lol, Oldself, a new code!

I personally would not call "good sex" after which I feel my crappiest ever just physically speaking :( Or maybe I just have too high standards?

I personally find sober sex when you connect with your partner the most fulfilling. All that drunk/high pornstar stuff that I thought was good was just part of the delusion.

See, jdooner, ImperfectlyMe, Nuudawn and whoever can relate - for me this is a goal in sobriety, and one that I'm already convinced it'll work. I just think it's an important component of human interaction and connection. And it's really cool to envision and imagine this dimension of life getting even better with continued sobriety. Haha, don't get into my dreams, people...

Anyhow, back to the sobriety issue - I think it's good to try to hold onto it for a while no matter how hard, so that we can actually see the benefits and get out into the light :)

I also recommend 'Love in the Time of Cholera' by Gabriel García Márquez here :)

I'm all free to write whatever codes I want tonight, into whatever program I envision. Seriously, just arrived in the SD equivalent of NY studio.

What sort of "code" will I write tonight? We'll see :)

Have a good nite friends

Okay..someone mentioned weird coincidences today in another post...

I just noticed this book earlier today on my library ebook website and I thought..."what a wierd name"...shrugged and moved on in my browse.

Sounds like I should check it out.
