Second day of sobriety

Hi, am slightly confused and not sure if I am posting in the right place. I have been a drinker on and off for 30yrs and have really had enough but know I need some support with staying sober. I would also like to support other people as this to me is as important in getting support myself. Would appreciate some feed back, hopefully I have posted in the right place and can start making friends today :) Thanks

LadyinBC 05-13-2014 02:56 AM

You have definitely posted in the right place!

So glad you found us and posting and supporting others is very good for recovery :D.

LadyinBC 05-13-2014 02:57 AM

And congrats on day 2!

Nonsensical 05-13-2014 02:57 AM

Looks like the right place to post to me. :)

Welcome! Congratulations on your decision to live a sober life! :ring

Wendy59 05-13-2014 03:17 AM

AlcoholFree66 05-13-2014 03:58 AM

Hi Wendy - I bet you felt better on Day 2 than you did yesterday. I certainly did. I am finding SR a great source of support.

Cahabr 05-13-2014 04:05 AM

Congrats, Wendy. I'm on day 2 as well and have been drinking for 20+ years. Let's do this!

Wendy59 05-13-2014 05:55 AM

Hi Cahabr, yes lets! Congrats to you too :) I really do want to do this...Free66, yes I do feel better thanks, still a little shaky though, have taken some B Complex vitamins which I hope will help, also drinking lots of juice and water :)

Badger4 05-13-2014 05:59 AM

Hi Wendy, Welcome to the group! Day two for me also.

Mentium 05-13-2014 06:01 AM

Hi Wendy - I'm in the same spot since my last drink, though I have tried quitting a good few times. I hope I am not being overly optimistic but I have had more sober days than drinking ones for the last nine months. Support is important! Welcome!

tim68 05-13-2014 06:16 AM

Welcome! I'm on day 9. Just keep it going!

heath480 05-13-2014 06:25 AM

Wishing you well.

ChickChick 05-13-2014 06:30 AM

:welcome Wendy!! Congrats on dat 2! There is tons of wonderful support here at SR, you've come to the right place!

Mags1 05-13-2014 06:40 AM

Hi Wendy stick with it, it's worth it, all the benefits sobriety brings even if you can't think of any yet and life sucks without booze, it doesn't, it's great!

firstymer 05-13-2014 07:02 AM

Wendy, not only are you in the right place but, if you are like me, you are in the "most" right place you could ever imagine. I did the same thing as you did - stumbled my way onto this website after 25 years of heavy drinking. That was almost 9 months ago, and I haven't had a drink since then. The good people here at SR have been largely responsible for keeping me on the right path.

Good luck. Welcome to the SR family. I am glad you are here with us. :ring

Just think about it Wendy,
you made it a second day!

Yes, the trip is one day at a
time.

I cannot emphasize enough
how important it is to have
a support system in place.
This great site can become
part of that support system.

That trip will get bumpy
many times (life in 2014) ,
but also remember, you
CAN do it!

Treerat66 05-13-2014 07:33 AM

Hi Wendy, welcome to SR and well done on two days.

:c011:

Wendy59 05-13-2014 08:19 AM

Thanks all, and good luck to you, longest I have ever managed to stay sober in 30 yrs (apart from when I have been ill) is three weeks and that was many years ago. So putting every thing I have into it this time I don't normally drink in the day but in the evenings, I have been know to get through 3/4 of a bottle of vodka just in one eve :( My father passed 10 months ago and I can't seem to accept that he has gone and my drinking has gone from bad to worse, like I said nearly a bottle of vodka a night. Thank you all for your support, will probably pop back on here tonight as that is when I will find it the hardest.

Wendy59 05-13-2014 08:21 AM

Just read all your kind messages of support, thanks, they really help :) :)

mecanix 05-13-2014 09:39 AM

Day 2 here as well. This is a lovely place. :-)

JohnnySober99 05-13-2014 09:49 AM

You're in the right place, Wendy. I think you'll find a great amount of resources here. Good luck in your journey.

NYCfitnessgirl 05-13-2014 09:56 AM

Welcome, Wendy! I am on day 7, so I remember clearly how hard day 2 was. It has already gotten enormously better. I had a 6 day hangover. Today I feel brand new, and grateful. Stick it out, you will feel so much better soon!

redmini 05-13-2014 10:38 AM

I hope you are stable no but if not...

For many years i trued to get sober on my own and then had an intense time in a clinic. trouble is that as soon as i get back to normal life i lose my way. I found a 'friend' through the Icarus Trust that is there for me whenever i need. They don't live anywhere near me and so i can tell them anything. 9 months now and real progress, thanks to them. give it a try -icarustrust.org

You have definitely posted in the correct place, well done on choosing sobriety you will find a new zest for life soon enough.

You are amongst friends right here and we look forward to getting to know you as time goes on.

My 2nd day as well. My2nd post too. I wish you the best on your journey. I set a long term goal of being in the best shape of my life. I plan on getting there 1 small goal at a time this week is stay sober by hitting the gym 6 days even if i dont feel up to it. Set some small goals that lead to a big one. Keep your eye on that prize. This has worked for.me in the past. I got your back.

Wendy59 05-13-2014 12:17 PM

Thanks all.. 8pm here and I'm struggling, feeling irritable, I knew I would. Hate feeling like this, made sure I have no alcohol in the house so I guess a hot chocolate and lots of will power tonight, my body will thank me for this in the morning :)

Wendy59 05-13-2014 12:20 PM

Sorry, meant to say, what a lovely group of people you all are, I wish you well on your journeys too, helping each other is the key to staying sober I think.

AlcoholFree66 05-13-2014 02:24 PM

How are you feeling Wendy? I love waking up in the mornings without having drunk the day before - it really gives me this proud feeling.

Wendy59 05-14-2014 03:07 AM

Hi Free66, I felt good this morning and happy I managed to get through the evening without a drink. My sleep was not great though woke 4/5 times and not very nice dreams but I guess that is to do with withdrawals... So nice to start the day with out a hangover :)
