Hello. I'm new here

Hello. While looking for reasons everywhere as to how my boyfriend of 2 1/2 years could just change how he felt about me in one moment I found this forum! He kept telling me he was an alcoholic but I guess I never really understood what that meant. He admitted that every time he left my house he went home and got drunk. He was balancing our relationship and his alcoholism until he just decided it was too much. He had to choose one or the other...he didn't choose me. Until reading things here I thought I had the power to change him...but now I know that it's all up to him. I thought he was the one I would spend my life with. Now I just don't know...

Hi Hope.
Sounds as if he has a serious drink problem and needs to address it.
There are a few fellowships helping alcoholics including this one.
The problem drinker needs to fully realize his/her needs to change.................
Personally I find the spiritual underpinning of AA very helpful.
