Welcome to SR Scott!! When I first came here (okay, so I lurked for at least 2 years) I read and read and read. Though my DOC (drug of choice) was crack, I had previously abused alcohol and opiates, AND I have loved ones who are still active in addiction, I found out I "fit" in a lot forums:( Guess what? It was a GOOD thing, as I got support, no matter where I went.

Read, post, and know that you are now part of a really big family who "gets" each other. I now have almost 6-1/2 years in recovery and SR and the people here have been a HUGE part of my success.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Mentium 09-16-2013 12:32 AM

Welcome Scott. I am a long term drinker too. With the help of this forum I am into my fourth week sober - and feeling good! It can be done. Stick around!

Welcome! If you have any feelings that withdrawal is becoming a serious problem, go see a doctor. We obviously can't know what your body has gone through, and everyone reacts differently.
Is this your first time quitting?

This is a great site with a lot of people who have been where you are at.

Hey Scott, well done! These guys are great...you've in good hands xx

I second double barrel, any serious withdrawals I would seek medical help. Anything else, plenty of fluids, rest and eat what you can when you feel like it.
I also second impurrfect, thread surf til you find places that you feel fit you best! Take care Scott and welcome x

hay scott, welcome. good job on stop drinking! this place really helped me so much. as for your question it is best to see a doctor, withdrawals can be deadly. i know alot of people do not have money to see a doctor and see one if you can. but you can always do research and learn about them to arm your self with knowledge. i had to do that, cause i had no money to see a doctor.
