Welcome Scott. Read lots of posts. Early days for me but I'm feeling positive thanks to all the support on this site.

Welcome to SR Scott!! When I first came here (okay, so I lurked for at least 2 years) I read and read and read. Though my DOC (drug of choice) was crack, I had previously abused alcohol and opiates, AND I have loved ones who are still active in addiction, I found out I "fit" in a lot forums Guess what? It was a GOOD thing, as I got support, no matter where I went.

Read, post, and know that you are now part of a really big family who "gets" each other. I now have almost 6-1/2 years in recovery and SR and the people here have been a HUGE part of my success.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Welcome Scott. I am a long term drinker too. With the help of this forum I am into my fourth week sober - and feeling good! It can be done. Stick around!

Welcome! If you have any feelings that withdrawal is becoming a serious problem, go see a doctor. We obviously can't know what your body has gone through, and everyone reacts differently.
Is this your first time quitting?

This is a great site with a lot of people who have been where you are at.

I second double barrel, any serious withdrawals I would seek medical help. Anything else, plenty of fluids, rest and eat what you can when you feel like it.
I also second impurrfect, thread surf til you find places that you feel fit you best! Take care Scott and welcome x

Hi Scott...I joined SR a couple of days ago & have found it has helped me immensely ...I am day 3 now without alcohol...I am drinking lots of fluids..made myself eat healthily, & am fortunately suffering very few symptoms of withdrawal.. after drinking for over 20yrs x

I really hope SR & the wonderful people on here have the same impact on you, that they have had on me...You really are not alone xxx Wishing you well on your journey xxx

hay scott, welcome. good job on stop drinking! this place really helped me so much. as for your question it is best to see a doctor, withdrawals can be deadly. i know alot of people do not have money to see a doctor and see one if you can. but you can always do research and learn about them to arm your self with knowledge. i had to do that, cause i had no money to see a doctor.
