The first meeting I went to focused on 'selfishness'. We alcoholics in the early days of recovery find it difficult to put our sobriety before EVERYTHING else, because it does sometimes impact on others in our lives (asking them to change behaviour for example).
One person likened it to when you are on an plane, and you are instructed to put on your oxygen mask before you put one on your child - it feels so counter-intuitive but it's so important.
You have to put your precious sobriety above everything else xxx

Can you get yourself away from this toxic environment for awhile? Or for more than "awhile"?
