**°** Why do I smile like nothing is wrong?? And how come not one person even notice that nothings ok?? |
:(. I don't know but I hear you. You're not alone. |
they told me i smiled in rehab when i was in pain |
Sometimes I think we have to learn to drop the mask, be honest, and ask for help alli? D |
I spent all my childhood and young adult life hoping someone would see the pain I was in from various family situations. When we are in pain it's hard to reach beyond ourselves. But we must because we are the only ones who can actually save ourselves. People are more helpful and caring than you may think. Please speak up and reach out. In some way. It will be worth it. If you have not already start here with a post about what you want someone to notice. I would like to hear. K |
People cannot see your pain when you hide it, usually. I have always done the same, and then cry that no one notices my need for help. I don't like to be vulnerable, I guess. you have to let people know what you need, and they usually care much more than you think they might. it is hard sometimes, to open up and ask for help. hugs chicory |
Trying to answer that will only cause you to over-analyze and may make you feel worse. Speak up and ask for help. Hope you feel better. |
I've always used that mask, too, and felt hurt when others couldn't see behind it. I think that when we learn to put on that mask to survive we sometimes forget we're even using it. It becomes second, or first, nature. I agree with trying to reach out to someone you trust, just a little. It is hard to be vulnerable but when you risk it you often find people were there all along just waiting to be asked. This would be a good place to start, too! :) |

I've used it to cover up ongoing drug use. Do you hide behind your smile to protect your use? Or are you scared to ask for help? Or are you hoping someone will rescue you? We all have different reasons...curious to hear yours. |
I know I should speak. Up but I feel like if I do ppl judge Idk I try to speak to my family but nothing happened like always I told them I think I needed counselling but once again nothing happen |
Have your tried counseling alli? That might be a great place to get support. I know some of the biggest, most important changes I've made have been while in counseling. Plus it's nice to know you have someone in your corner, someone who is on your side. |
(Andisa) I use to hide behind a smile when would use but yes I am afraid. To ask for help I fell like when I do ppl judge. Its hard idk how to get over it and thx |

I know well I'm 19 but I wouldn't. Know where to start |
Alli, do you go to school? There might be counseling resources or referrals at college or university. You could also call your family doctor and ask for a referral. Or see if there is any outpatient addiction recovery counseling in the phone book. |
Oh OK yeah I'm in college But don't you have to pay Don for counseling my friend told me its alot of money |
Some campuses have a therapist on staff. Maybe look into that? |
Your not alone and most times I feel the same way.... |
