Don't cross my boundaries!

I guess being 6 months sober knocked me upside the head and said "get tough".

I will no longer take anyone's sh*t. Be it my husband, my family, or anyone who wants to dish it out.

I put up with way to much when I was drinking because I felt I deserved it. Well I'm not drunk anymore and I respect myself. I have a higher power that tells me to respect myself. So from now on if anyone wants to start something with me they can just bring it on...

I am typically so layed back. I plan on staying that way providing people don't cross my boundaries, because when they do this kitten will become a tiger and will make sure those boudaries are not crossed again.

Wow- that felt good! ;)

Oh me too, TooMutch!

I have very definitely boundaries and stick to them and it feels so good. And, I no longer care what others think about my boundaries or my choices. I'm doing what I need to do for me.

Seems reasonable to me TM....:)
Fortunately...I have few toxic people in my life.

PaperDolls 08-25-2008 10:12 AM

my mom was always such a passive person.
she got sober.
got over her depression.
She likes to say.
"Hell, I'm too old to give a sh!t what they think. I don't care if they like me or not."

Wowza! I know she feels better. :Dance7:

Contrags to you! :Val004:

dancinggirl 08-25-2008 10:21 AM

Good for you!!!!

Kick butt Suzette. Letting people walk all over us cant be good for our self esteem or our recovery. Personally, I need to work on my passive-agressiveness.

I think I might have some of that too. More work. Work is never done.

Maybe we should start a "do not cross our boundaries in recovery" forum, I think there may be many who would jump on board :)

Not this man! When our disease is active, we are all like that. Takes a while to develop that new persona... Sounds as though you have reached a milestone. Again, you go girl!

Thank you Warren, I'm glad you posted here

Some may consider this renewed strenth as becoming a b*tch.

Do I care? No

I know you dont feel that way Warren and I'm glad you understand me.

LOL, I second the motion for a "No more sh!t" thread!!.

Good for you Suz! It's cool to be laid back without being a doormat. I really admire people who are gentle yet firm and no-nonsense. All the more power to you! :)

My GF would definitely agree with you, and I don't think it has anything to do with being a b*tch. I like to think of it as "owning and protecting what is ours"!

I don't think it makes you a b!itch. You just have the courage to stand up for yourself. You DO have a personal bill of rights, ya know
