Morning Overs

SE, it’s great you can support your friend. :)

Pollen Count is very night over here. It’s a day for indoors methinks.

Take care, be safe and have a good Tuesday, my friends xxxxx

Good morning, Overs!

It looks like another spectacular day at the ocean. I will be going for my daily walk for sure :-)

Have a good day! ☼

That's awesome SE. It's the little acts of individual kindness that make the world a better place.

I will attempt to toe the no politics line carefully. Currently, I work in a well off suburban location. We have two stores located in the heart of the city which are located just a couple blocks from widespread looting and arson fires have taken place. The company boarded up the stores and they remain closed. On Sunday, a friend of mine attempted to get to one of these stores to work and could not get within miles of the store so she had to head back home. A 6:00 pm curfew is in effect downtown. All major highways leading downtown have been closed, and public transit from the burbs to the city shut down, in an attempt to staunch the flow of outsiders. Law enforcement has tried to remain low key downtown, but when thousands descended onto a major interstate yesterday blocking traffic, tear gas was used to clear the highway. Things rapidly escalate at that point. I was reading yesterday that most business insurance does not cover damage from looting, so many will likely not reopen when things calm. It is the last thing cities with struggling tax bases need.

Our governor has extended by one week the dead line to count mail in primary ballots. Much postal delivery has been restricted and or non existent in certain areas. The right to have one's voice heard at the ballot box must be upheld no matter what the situation we are experiencing.

Please be safe and like SE, try to help someone whom is struggling during these trying times.

Hey Overs!
Fourth night in a row of protests here in little old Colorado Springs downtown. The COVID 19 second wave is going to be a doozy. Tear gas used every night. I hope everyone goes home OK. No, we are nowhere near it. No looting here.
I hope everyone's well and realizing this too will pass.

Hey CK!

Star,
Stay safe and secure. I am sorry your company had to shutter some locations.

Mags,
Pollen high here too! My SH, who still smokes complains about it even here. Stay in if it helps you.

PJ,
So your system is stable now? Glad it was just software.

Tired, still working on tools and the last bit of organization.

Good morning Overs.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning Overs

Sassy, hope you had a nice walk on the beach. :) The weather has been gorgeous.

Itchy, I thought the same when I see the news, doozy! Glad you’re all safe.

Star, You and your family keep safe.

Rain here this morning, it will dampen down the pollen. I’m sure my cats think I can make rain disappear. They keep going to their cat flap, looking out then asking me to sort it! :dunno: Dr. Doolittle at your service, my furry friends.

Have a good Wednesday my friends. xxxx

I guess Covid is taking a break on the back burner :dunno: I'm staying over here in my bubble :Meditate:

Good morning, Overs.

Tough times we are living through, for sure. My heart goes out to all!

Hi CK, good to see you and also nice to see the Overs’ secret greeting again :-)

SG, I have a difficult time watching TV news but do try to at least keep up with what’s happening. Seeing a pic of troops in front of the Lincoln Memorial made me feel especially sad and horrified.

I hope you all have a good day!

stargazer016 06-03-2020 07:51 AM

It is disheartening when well meaning, peaceful protests suddenly ignite into clashes with the police. The random violence and vandalism is uncalled for, as are the beatings, gassings and jailings of innocents. Those whom don't learn from history are bound to repeat it. Again and again.

Itchy, it would seem that pollen would not be such an issue in a drier climate like yours. Are there a lot of non native grasses and nursery stock planted by home sick easterners that are contributing to the pollen?

Well done on three and a half years CK!

My company is attempting to send crews into the downtown stores today just to toss out all of the perishable goods that have been sitting in the store going bad. As a company, most of our food spoils are donated to food banks, but I don't know if they are functioning during the tumult.

Be safe and grateful all!

I was able to read since my last post! Yay! Baby step on getting back to normal :)

thx so much for your kind words.

star - I really appreciate your sharing of how the events of 2020 have impacted your grocery business. I’m sorry that you have been dealing with the issues, and for someone who doesn’t leave the house, it’s helpful to get a pulse on practical impacts because it is so fundamental a service.

insurance not covering looting breaks my heart.

PhoenixJ 06-03-2020 05:25 PM

These unprecedented times makes a safe community like SR all them more important. I cannot change the world- but I can keep on trying to be the best I can, and support where I can.

My prayers for all, and me.

Dee74 06-03-2020 05:35 PM

Guys I know it's hard but just a reminder that we need to steer clear of politics - I don't want to stop people talking about their feelings but I think we can do that in a general way that won't upset someone else.

Good morning Overs.
I sowed some seed yesterday, because I wanted to rather than because I felt obligated. Small steps.
Have a good day everyone.

stargazer016 06-04-2020 01:55 AM

My sincerest apologies to Dee and all of my friends here.

In other news, I had a 70 mile per hour line of thunderstorms pass through my neighborhood yesterday and they knocked ripped a thirty foot tree of mine right out of the ground. Most of my neighborhood is without power, though we currently are online. My store lost power and still is without at this point. All of our perishable foods are now trash. No telling if we will power back up , restock and reopen today.

Best wishes all!

Dee74 06-04-2020 02:08 AM

I'm so sorry stargazer - it seems like the tough times will never end.

Yikes Star, you can't seem to catch a break! :boggled:

FBL 06-04-2020 02:39 AM

Just thought I'd check my sobriety calculator this morning and I see that I'm now up to 4,000 days sober! I remember all of those years when I couldn't string together more than a couple of days. This is a MUCH better way to live!

Have a Thunderous Thursday, overs!

Dee74 06-04-2020 02:40 AM

C ongrats FBL!

Afternoon Overs

Star, sorry about your tree, I’m glad no one was hurt. Seems to be one thing after another.

Nice one FBL :c011:

Hope your Thursday is going well. I administered my four asthma injections earlier. Went a bit funny for a while. But all ok now. :yup:

Take care and be safe my friends. xxxx
