5am in the U.K. and sleep just hasn’t happened - at least no plans for the day so I can pretty much sleep whenever I want - as long as I make sure I eat and drink enough during the day.

Another 24 please.

Mags1 11-02-2019 10:58 PM

Efra, I love that poem, thanks for sharing. :)

Vovo I hope you had a good day, with plenty of ‘me’ time, charging your batteries and spoiling yourself too.

24 more please

05.58 am Sunday

Love to all. xxxx

Nic233 11-02-2019 11:30 PM

I’d like to check in for another 24 please..
It’s been a busy couple of days shopping for a dress for the Melbourne Cup. I’m going to Ascot in a corporate box so the pressure is on this year.. I’ve managed to find a dress this afternoon at the 11th hour so that’s me shopped out for a while. I actually hate clothes shopping!
I would personally prefer to be anywhere else rather than being stuck around horses, free flowing champagne and fashionistas but it’s a work commitment so I’ll make the most of it!. I would have been in my element 2 years ago, and I would have drank myself stupid!
Hope everyone else is having a great Sunday. Sending love to all

Have a good day all!

Well done for finding your dress Nic. I hope you have a good time at the races. I bet it will be loads of fun being there sober. I went to Ascot races in Windsor the summer before I stopped drinking and got really drunk. Surprise surprise. Anyway, the next day everyone was talking about how good the band was. Eh? There was a band? Yep, apparently after the horse racing there was a band and they were really good. And apparently I danced for hours whilst listening to the band but I have no memory of any of it. Complete blackout. Scary. How could I have thought I was having fun? I wasn't even there. I don't even know where I was.... Lost somewhere in the land of the blackout. A world with no rules where I was no longer in control of myself and could have done any number of crazy things. A terrifying, lawless hell on earth. And I kept putting myself there willingly..... over and over again. Thank goodness we never need to go there again. Kind of links in with what James said about feeling like a relatively normal person now and doing things other people find enjoyable. Now I know what it's like to go to a wedding and remember the speeches. Now I know what it's like to go on holiday and not pick fights with my husband because he doesn't want to find a bar before we even put our luggage in the hotel. Now I know sober dancing is not only possible, it's enjoyable .... Ditto sober karaoke. Now I realise I can have a bad day without retreating to the terrifying land of the blackout where bad days turn into bad weeks. Now I realise there's shops in airports, not just bars and that it's easier to understand and remember films if I go straight to the cinema. Not via the pub. Finally I realise that everything I used to think was fun was in reality my addiction trying to get me back to the terrifying land of the blackout, where I surrendered every last jot of control. And when I think of it like that, I realise it's much safer being here. And ironically loads more fun!

Love to everyone and 24 more for me please xxxx

Mags1 11-03-2019 01:28 AM

I so get you kenton. I had blackouts too, how did we function as we did, I’ve no idea.
I’m so grateful and happy I don’t drink. It was a lifesaver stopping, I’m sure we all feel as you do.

A crisp, clear morning here in Norway, temperatures below freezing and the sky is blue. The Love of my Life and I are making moose roast for dinner and I am happier than I've ever been.

How exciting...I've never been to horse races. I love the hats and dresses for the Kentucky Derby. How's yours?!

Welcome FallingLeaves. Norway was a favorite country to visit in the early 1980s. I found an AA meeting place in Bergen, but it was closed. It was a fun adventure though. I also visited Trondheim...and cruised above the Arctic Circle. Plus more travels in-country. And I did it sober!

AA in Norway and it was one of the first countries Bill Wilson and his wife visited in the 1950s (I think)

WoW all caught up on posts...phew...group hug to everyone...

I do benefit hearing of peoples' struggles and pain...I live a simple life that at times can't get together...with your all's lives you deal with I either abandoned the responsibilities or just didn't accept them.

Of course I love to hear how well you are doing too. Over the past 6 weeks my participation here on SR forums has become part of my routine/ritual. The more sober I get the more thoroughly I read your posts. I don't have to anxiously rush through them.

Is the rest of the world observing DST?

Keeping SR tab open all day...Go Pack Go. Congratulations to Rugby champs South Africa...I like and somewhat understand it. I think the word "scrum" sounds cool.

Here's to love from within the recovery fellowship(s).

That's so cool! I'm from Trondheim originally, but now I live right next to Trondheim Airport, close to a place called Hell. :)

24 hours sober please.

Gabe1980 11-03-2019 04:44 AM

24 please.

Been feeling awful all weekend but I think its mainly hormonal. Just dark. Had made plans to come out for a coffee with a woman from AA, so I've come! A least I didn't cancel though I feel sorry for her having to look at my miserable face!

One day at a time eh?

Love to all 💕💕

Oh my gosh how I don't miss the Melbourne Cup.

But I bet you will look absolutely gorgeous and just be proud of yourself because you are not one of those women straggling home the next morning carrying their shoes. :)

What colour is the dress? I can't see you doing a flowery dress.....hmm.... :) ❤️
