'night ma'am

stargazer016 09-04-2019 10:05 AM

Your art will be quite inspirational for patients and visitors to the burn unit PJ. Very happy that you can give back to the place where your rebirth began.

Have a good day gang!

Mags1 09-04-2019 11:01 AM

Thank you Dee :)

venuscat 09-04-2019 11:42 AM

PJ knows how Aussie chics feel about being called ma'am......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrr........

PhoenixJ 09-04-2019 03:10 PM

'Chics?'. That would certainly cause the grrrr's.

No disrespect Suze, think of Clint E. dipping his cowboy hat when greeting a respectable lady.

venuscat 09-04-2019 03:17 PM

Chic is good. Really good. :) :)

As in, what a cool chic.....what an awesome chic.....what a crazy chic..... :lmao:

Mags1 09-04-2019 10:19 PM

Suze Rock Chick! :)

Treerat66 09-04-2019 11:16 PM

Good morning Overs.

So who remembers 'The Waltons'?
"Goodnight John boy"
"Goodnight Papa"
And once that signature tune gets into your head you'll be humming it aaaallll day :lmao

Have a good one everyone.

PhoenixJ 09-04-2019 11:37 PM

NO, Suze- the females I know can call themselves chicks, but guys cannot. Must be a sofistimicated thing.

Doing ok actually. I wonder if my fatigue is linked with weather somedays. This morning was quite warm...about 14C, where as recently it was 6c-at night.

Saskia 09-05-2019 06:13 AM

Have a good day/night whatever it is wherever you are :grouphug:

Treerat66 09-05-2019 11:25 PM

Good morning Overs.

My 80 year old Mom says she is going out with the 'girls' but would be offended if someone called her a girl. :headbange

Have a good day girls and boys.

tootsl1 09-06-2019 12:59 AM

I'm less 'young chick' these days, more 'old boiler'! :lmao I take no offence at terms and mean no offence if I use something that is no no longer 'au fait' . And thank you Andy, I loved The Walton's and was gobsmacked that at least 25 years since my last viewing I cut,d being the theme tune to mind. I will happily have that particular ear worm for the day!

Mags1 09-06-2019 01:14 AM

Morning Overs

Andy though I watched the Walton’s years ago I can’t remember the tune.:dunno: and was trying to remember it on and off all day.:)

Hope your mum enjoys going out with the girls. :)

Since Mr.M has retired, besides all the other nicknames he has for me he started calling me lass and girl. I certainly don’t look like a lass or girl but I do find it funny.:biglaugh:

It’s Fri-YAY have a good day my friends xxxx

FBL 09-06-2019 04:11 AM

Goodnight, John Boy...

Saskia 09-06-2019 05:20 AM

Thanks, FBL. I spent many happy hours watching The Walton’s :c011: makes me wish the world were like that now.

Toots, I don’t much mind most things people call me these days :-). I see some people get riled up but I think most people use terms like “hon”, “chick”, “girls”, etc without thinking and mean them either as a casual term or an endearing one. No matter.

I had the first drinking dream in about four years last night. Based on content, I think it was triggered by reading about some relapses in Newcomers. Although it bothered me that I had that dream, I don’t think it means I will drink again. However, it’s a good reminder that I never want to go there!

Have a good day to all :grouphug:

Mags1 09-06-2019 09:55 AM

Andy, yeah I kept getting a song in my head and thought is this the Waltons theme music? :dunno: until FBL kindly played it, then realised I’d been humming ‘last of the summer wine’ theme music.
Great series about three retired characters who get up to all sorts. Great English comedy.

I think they are good reminders dear Sass, and coincidentally I also had my first one in years the other night. And you just hit 5 years and I am almost there....I know lots of AAers and SRs say that around the big milestones this happens for them as well.

Mine was so strange: I can still see the drinks clearly....it must have been related to some TV show I was watching because they were fancy cocktails which was never my thing ever. I woke up and checked that there was no drink next to the bed though because it was very vivid. :)

Nick has been telling me I am his girl since he met me, and I kept pointing out that I am hardly a girl..... :) I stopped.... I love it now.

:grouphug:

Mags1 09-06-2019 10:16 AM

Suze, that’s so nice what Nick says to you. ❤️

Me too Sassy, I’m always pleased they’re a dream and yes, a reminder for us never to rest on our laurels.:)

venuscat 09-06-2019 10:18 AM

So is Mr Mags calling you lass. :) :) s

Treerat66 09-06-2019 11:08 PM

Good morning Overs.
:dee
I've just heard, a 73yo woman in India has given birth after IVF :dee What are we doing? :headbange

Have a good day everyone.

tootsl1 09-06-2019 11:42 PM

I've always said, just because we can do something, doesn't mean we should!

Mags1 09-06-2019 11:45 PM

Morning Overs

Saturday morning and we’re visiting the in-laws later. Fil has sent for an indoor aerial and we’re interested to see if it works well. Do you remember indoor aerials years ago? You had to move all over the place with the antenna to get a signal. Then it was usually stood on a chair with the thing on your head! :rolmao:

Hope everyone is well. xx

Saskia 09-07-2019 04:25 AM

Good morning, Overs and have a good day!

PhoenixJ 09-07-2019 05:03 AM

a good week

First half of semester finished successfully
Exhib up at the hospital
My sons are at a distance, but return replies to messages (last one me putting up said exhib)

Mags1 09-07-2019 12:01 PM

PJ, I’m pleased it was a good week. Must seem so surreal seeing your art displayed for many to see. :)

PhoenixJ 09-07-2019 06:14 PM

Mags- my whole burns experience has been surreal. My fried bod - images shown at International conferences (before and after) where the specialist who saved my life gets standing ovations, when at the same time I was living in a place run by a gun wielding drug dealer who was a very nasty piece of work. I must add the Unit was extraordinarily support of me at that tine- giving me gift cards to buy food, taxi vouchers, high protein drinks by the dozen....

Going to the Burns Unit was like being in a different reality. Surreal became my normal. Now I am verging on just being on the fringes of normal....well????perhaps....my experiences and life probably dictates I will never fit into the schematic definition of 'normal' (whatever it may be).

As to exhib- it is there. I am not. It is there for closure, to share my story and how the Unit, how art helped me heal. Not to sell, or invoke any responses..I do not expect any, BUT I am glad it is up.

Mags1 09-07-2019 07:22 PM

PJ, I see the burns unit as a welcoming island in what was a turbulent sea for you. I think you’ve moved to the calm, peaceful waters now.

I think our past experiences (and you’ve had your fair share) can help us move forward, with the knowledge that that’s the way for us, never to return. (the bigger gap I can put between me and that drunk that I was, is good for me)

And as for being normal. :dunno: normal is what is right for you.
Personally, I see you fit in excellently on SR with all you speak with.
You future looks good John.
One day at a time in our precious present.
You’re a shining star my friend.

tootsl1 09-07-2019 11:27 PM

Couldn't have said it better Mags. Peej you are awesome mate.
