Hi, Aly and Rose! Ann, I'm currently steeping a cup of ginger tea, and the tea bag tag has a quotation that I'd think you would heartily attest to: "If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere."--Vincent Van Gogh |
I have to get that kind of tea, that gives you good sayings while you are steeping your tea! I really like that! |
Gilmer, that passage from The Pilgrim's Progress was read at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in Westminster Abbey in 2002. I'll always remember how absolutely splendid it sounded when read aloud so beautifully. I hope you are able to view this clip: the reading starts at about 4:50 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ek2A5W73SQc |
well said Gilly. I like ginger in my coffee. |
I'm so glad your friend had that reaction, Kathy. :) |
Wow Kathy, what a fabulous email! And a fabulous post! Thank you so much for sharing ❤️ I’ve had a rough couple of days and your post was so beautiful and brings me comfort. That’s how Mum was, at peace and accepting of God’s will. She’s now there in God’s care and will be there when I eventually arrive there too. Along with the 23rd psalm, Amazing grace and comforting prayers and words from her pastor, this l was one of the passages from her service. It also brings me great comfort. "When I am gone, release me. Let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so many beautiful years. I gave to you my love. You can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it's time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near. And if you listen with your heart, You'll hear all my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say welcome home..." ❤️❤️❤️ |
That is also a lovely poem that rings true, Willow. |
Today my pastor came over for the visit we arranged. I was full of joy and zest. We talked about how, right in the midst of my grumbling and complaining, the Lord seemed to slip a renewal of joy in right under my nose before I knew what was happening! I gave you guys credit for a lot of it. We have so many special times on this thread talking about any and all manner of things! I truly cannot thank you guys enough for your presence, support, and sustenance! And humor and beauty, too. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I really am incapable of expressing the depth of the love and gratitude I feel, |
:grouphug: Such a beautiful post, Kathy. So happy things seemed to go well! ♥♥♥ |
We love you Kathy. :grouphug: |

:grouphug: I did watch the clip, Caramel. The excerpt was beautifully read, and I loved the majesty and dignity of the ceremony. You English have such a beautiful sense of purposefulness and eloquence. That ceremony had the power to make the viewer long for a plane that is higher and nobler. How fitting as the Queen Mother made her passage into eternity. |
I really like that graphic, Suze! |
Thanks caramel. I’m a Brit. 1/2 Brit not half-wit:lmao Mum came to to the United States on the Queen Elizabeth boat in 1955 I listened and was humbled. Kathy. Glad the pastor visit was good. Nice poem willow PJ. Ginger in coffee? :yikes: |
Kathy, so lovely to wake up here and see your friend responded in the most gracious way also. Lovely to see your Pastor's visit was upbeat. Glad to see you are enjoying the days when they are filled with 'sunlight'. xx |
