Good morning, Happy Sunday, Easter and April Fool's Day in any order you wish. Summer is definitely over - it is 5.30am and I'm wearing all the clothes I can find. Grateful to be up early and sober. Best wishes Fradley |
Not my recording but I live with a bunch of these little fellas - I love it :) |

Sorry everyone I think I'll just back out as gracefully as I can. I used to make dumb jokes: "Its not the end of the world. Its just the end of you." Haha. Nothing has changed. Stay. Please. ♥ |

Welcome back Purp. :grouphug: Some enlightening moments this week for me. I received a small promotion at work and they announced it this week to the dept, with a little champagne get together on the balcony. The next day was our 32 wedding anniversary. I avoided alcohol on both counts...remembering that the beauty of the moment can really only be felt without being numbed out. On the balcony I held a bottle of water in my hand for the toasts. “I’m on a diet” was my answer to anyone handing me a flute of bubbly. I did feel awkward but alas, that’s the real me. At dinner, my husband invited our youngest daughter...making it easier to not drink. I was the driver. :) Two months sober on Monday and I am so happy. I have the whole week off this week and I can’t wait to relax and have some fun here at my staycation! Casey I just ordered the classic nes Nintendo and I’ll be playing me some Zelda. Mwhahaha! https://s18.postimg.org/wp1gfdsr9/3_...A40_F1_AC6.png |

I am not an avid bird watcher. BUT- every morn, at the false dawn...a young maggie perches on the very top- the pinnacle of a big old pine tree near my home...and warbles it's tribute to the sun. Always faces east. Cat-S would have been proud. I am a HUGE bird freak.....it has become a big part of my life here.....I have never seen or heard such magnificent birds. Mr and Mrs gorgeous cardinal have been with us since I got here.... :) Morning Marchies. Loads of love. :grouphug: |

Hello friends....Happy Easter and huge thanks to everyone for being here :grouphug: |
Happy Easter, Marchos. I'm not going to drink today. No matter what. |
Happy Easter to my favorite Marchers! Enjoy, and give thanks for the gift of sobriety today! It’s hard work but we are better people because of it. Off to sneak some mid morning chocolate from my kiddos’ baskets. At 8, 6 and 2, the Easter bunny is still very much alive here. :lmao |
:) Have a wonderful day love. Happy Easter! :) ♥ |
Hello and Happy Easter March friends! We have a lot of quail here - they do make a nice noise, and they kind of cute - but I can only think of them as part of the food chain. I know that sounds terrible, but it's true :( I'm looking forward to a good day. I've got a few things on my task list to take care of, and I'm always grateful to have busy hands. Easter is an interesting holiday, and while I don't consider myself attached to any one religion (but I really have a fascination with all religions), I trust that all my Christian friends are feeling a sense of wellness today through the victory of His death. Have a great day everyone! Don't drink - it's very bad for you. |
Good morning, guys! Yesterday day was sweet. Got to spend about 8 hours with Kamry, Nathan’s daughter. Today is family time at my mom’s then Sophia and Olivia adventures. Have a blessed day, everyone, whatever your beliefs. Pelagic, not sure what your post meant, but don’t leave. You belong here. |
Happy Easter everyone. Lillian, I love to go birding in CA. I usually start the year there. This year I saw my 100th bird on Jan 6 on the CA coast. It was an Osprey, one of my favs. Every year I say I want to see 400 (not much of an accomplishment since the record is over 750 for North America). I usually quit around 250 though. Its a lot of work. Sibley does indeed show that little collar on the Ring-necked, but none of my books call it a field mark. You're right, the bill does it best. Oh, don't get me started on birding, you'll never hear the end of it, lol. Still no laptop so I'll stop here. Have a great day everyone. I won't give up on this either. Love you Marchers. |
My wife just reminded me of a beautiful poem. "Wild Geese" by Mary Oliver. I can't post with this little tablet but its all over the internet. I think I'll keep a copy in my recovery notebook. Another by Oliver, "The Journey." These can help I think. |
Happy Easter everybody. Thank you for keeping me sober!!! |
The sun has set on another sober day and the sky is full of stars. Grateful :) Go well everyone. Fradley |
Easter greetings to all who read this most supportive of Class threads :grouphug: |
Pelagic, those are great poems - thanks! |
You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting - over and over announcing your place in the family of things. Mary Oliver Wild Geese |
One day you finally knew what you had to do, and began, though the voices around you kept shouting their bad advice -- though the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at your ankles. "Mend my life!" each voice cried. But you didn't stop. You knew what you had to do, though the wind pried with its stiff fingers at the very foundations, though their melancholy was terrible. It was already late enough, and a wild night, and the road full of fallen branches and stones. But little by little, as you left their voice behind, the stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds, and there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own, that kept you company as you strode deeper and deeper into the world, determined to do the only thing you could do -- determined to save the only life that you could save. Mary Oliver The Journey |
Good stuff MITA Suze, I have a lot of '....ikeets; birds here. They herd themselves into the trees at dawn and dusk. Dozens- I love 'em. Monday here- have a safe and peaceful rest of Easter Marchlings. |
Hey guys!! Checking in after what feels like a really long day. We had lunch-dinner (linner??) at DH's parents and I don't know if it's because I'm not used to having big family meals (with it just being the girls and I for so long) or if it's because they are just really difficult people but it's a struggle to be there and to play nice. Lol. Anyways home now and grateful to be sober. Need to hold on to this feeling through the days ahead. Purplrks - love you and glad you're here :grouphug: Well off to make a tea and read through some of the threads here Night! |
Falling space junk alert! I’m sitting here tracking the projected fall of the Chinese space station Tiangong. A hunk of metal the size of a school bus should be coming down in the next hour or two. If you’re in Middle East or Asia right now, you may want to put on a helmet and watch the fireworks in the sky! Don’t worry....it will break apart and burn up into tiny bits. It’s over Sudan now. Moves so fast! Kind of fun to watch! |
Thanks for posting those poems MITA. My laptop is still not cooperating. It may be time for a new one. I hope everyone had a good Easter. And a good Monday down under! Stay well and stay sober. |
I LOVED the poems! Thank you. :) Ospreys are one of my favorites too Pelagic. Coincidently we just heard a hooded oriole outside. They are so beautiful! I picture a Maggie greeting the dawn...such a pretty mental picture. |
I'm not sure what happened either Pel....I don't do obtuse as well as I used to. but no backing out Pelagic - there's nothing for us back the way we came...keep moving forward :) D |
The space bus came down in the Pacific Ocean, northwest of Tahiti. Whew! You can take off those helmets now. :) |
Nighty nite friends. Hope Easter was good to you! |
Settling down for the night.....Another sober day done, thanks to you all! :grouphug: |
Good to see you Sam!! Getting ready to call it a day here as well. Had some of that low-level anxiety creep in today. I wish I knew what causes that - things were no different today than the last few days. It's just a general kind of uncomfortableness with the way things are - a little too much time spent thinking about the past and worrying about the future (both pointless, I know). Add in a sprinkle of existential angst and it adds up to something that would normally have me indulging. I made it through okay, but I am very tired. The low-level anxiety just. wears. me. out. I'm all ears regarding anyone else's experience and suggestions. Looking forward to getting some sleep and having a better go of it tomorrow. Sweet dreams to those here - hope the Australians are having a good Monday :) |
