Just had dinner that I cooked, Thai beef salad.

I thought it was great but family thought it was crap. That's it I'm done with this fussy lot. KFC from now on, LOL

Anyway, I'm dead tired, see you guys in the morning

Hi Class of September and welcome!! I'm in the class of April and coming up on 5 months sober which feels like a miracle. I feel like a new person. Family better, work better, home better, and I've even lost 30 pounds :). Hang in there because after the early days, you will soon be feeling so much better and that is a huge motivation. You've got this and it looks like an already awesome class to support you.

Welcome to the new Sept class.
Today is a great day to Join!

BeFree1971 09-01-2016 04:44 AM

Good Morning - Hope everyone has a lovely, sober day :)

Have a meeting with an old boss this am, but afterwards I'll be working on my plan and looking into reading material. Loved the term "the Beast" everyone was discussing. I'm still trying to understand some of the lingo on here, but I now have a name for the voice in my head telling me it's ok to drink (and the Beast is a great liar). I'm not crazy, I'm not the only one .. so much comfort in that.

Best wishes to all of the Sept Class and one day at a time. Day 2 for me :)

WhiskeyBent 09-01-2016 04:51 AM

Morning everyone. Im here and im sober and it feels good. Im going to do some work at work, then im going to do some work at home, then im going to some work on me today. Good day for work.

Why? Because I actually have energy to do some work. No drinking just a good nights sleep. It is amazing how you feel the next day. Like I can get some stuff done. What a bonus of being sober.

Have a productive day good people.

JamesSquire 09-01-2016 01:58 PM

Morning everyone,

Did some shopping yesterday afternoon and left the windows down to get rid of some of the smelll in the car. Well it rained last night and guess who forgot to put the windows up.

Didn't sleep well last night, think my body and mind is not use to resting without the influence of alcohol.

Day 3

Glad to see the Class building up in numbers. Plan today is get a 'formal' PLAN organised to see me through recovery.

AV hit me early then again late afternoon, as I was cooking dinner. Luckily I didn't have any alcohol at home. Have to work out the trigger.

Suzie89 ... can't wait to have that feeling you have

Have a good day everyone. I'll try and get back on later this morning

James

Hope everyone is doing well :)

The Beast is actually a concept borrowed from Rational Recovery, befree and what they call AVRT (Addictive Voice Recognition Technique).

There are several threads on AVRT in our Secular Connections forum :)

Thank you Dee - I was trying to determine what AV meant. I have a lot of reading to do. Learned about SMART on here today in one of the articles and watched a video this afternoon about that program. Knowledge is power and so is support. Love this site and everyone on here. :You_Rock_:grouphug:

Welcome September crowd! Hope you guys build a really solid group! I am in the August class but as time goes by we ll start counting years and be just the 2016 class.

Stay strong in these first few days!

No more excuses! Today is my Day One!

Shelby04 09-01-2016 05:11 PM

To "join the September Class of 2016" is just to participate, right?

Windancer 09-01-2016 05:17 PM

I was wondering the same thing, Shelby04.
I've been on this forum for years but for some reason have never joined a class.
I'm hoping to change that.
I'm on sober day 12 :)

Bowski 09-01-2016 05:28 PM

I'm in again. I caught the last 5 days of the August class, but I want to start one from scratch. Hello everyone ! Let's help each other and get through this!

Windancer 09-01-2016 05:35 PM

Well I just finished dinner a few hours ago. I might hit the sack soon.
I'll likely check in here in the morning before my Doctor's appointment.
Or sooner than that is I have trouble sleeping.
I wish everyone well and look forward to everyone's posts tomorrow.
G'night!

WhiskeyBent 09-01-2016 06:32 PM

Well I did it. I went to a bar with some friends tonight. Ordered a Coke. Talked, laughed, and went home.

It was hard. I didnt like being in a bar. I think ill stay out of them for a while. I really wanted a beer. Bad.

Glad I made it home and im going to be sober.

FourSeasons 09-01-2016 06:34 PM

Hello! I have been in a stop and then start, and then stop and start cycle for quite some time.

I am back and I hope I am back for good.

I want this cycle to end.

It is time (though I've come to this acknowledgement over a 100 times in the past).

This time I hope it sticks!

(And part of me is embarrassed to be back. I even thought of joining anew under a different user name. But then I thought that would only help me continue the lie that I have been living).

So here I am!

I am grateful to be apart of the Class of September 2016 and I look forward to learning more about your own personal journeys.

Behindthelens 09-01-2016 07:02 PM

Good day folks. I hope September is treating you all well.

I nearly cracked last night. Thursdays are always tough for me as it's the end of my working week. It was the usual stuff. "You can just have 4 beers then tomorrow we'll get back on the wagon." I did ponder it, I must admit.

Oddly enough, a strange defiance came over me. Almost anger. A different voice telling the AV to leave the place. Never had that before but it seemed to work.

I'm on day 9 and can absolutely say that it's getting better. Still not great but a vast improvement on the way I felt before.

Wishing you all a sober day.
