“I once heard a sober alcoholic say that drinking never made him happy, but it made him feel like he was going to be happy in about fifteen minutes. That was exactly it, and I couldn’t understand why the happiness never came, couldn’t see the flaw in my thinking, couldn’t see that alcohol kept me trapped in a world of illusion, procrastination, paralysis. I lived always in the future, never in the present. Next time, next time! Next time I drank it would be different, next time it would make me feel good again. And all my efforts were doomed, because already drinking hadn’t made me feel good in years.”
― Heather King, Parched

“When you quit drinking you stop waiting.”
― Caroline Knapp, Drinking: A Love Story

“I've always believed clear-eyed sobriety was for the harder hearted.”
― Gillian Flynn, Sharp Objects

“Getting sober is a radically creative act.”
― Meredith Bell, A Sober Year: Daily Musings on an Alcohol-Free Life

“Be grateful. These feelings, no matter how painful, are part of
living. Today, we are alive—not anesthetized, not sedated, not passed
out. Take control of your feelings and through action you can change.
Today, as every day of sober living, we have a choice.”
― Ann D. Clark, Women & Recovery: Sex, Sobriety & Stepping Up: Practical Suggestions for Quality Living in Recovery

“achieving true sobriety goes beyond abstinence. it's also about healing your soul, apologizing for damage you did to other, and seeking forgiveness.”
― Lou Gramm, Juke Box Hero: My Five Decades in Rock 'n' Roll

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!! KEEP GROWING, LEARNING AND REACHING OUT.

"Reach up or out and GROWWWW!!!!!"

"We fight to hold on and we fight to let go...."

"we see the world, not as it is, but as we are"

"our best days are ahead of us....when the movie starts and the guy gets sober & puts his life back together ...it doesn't end there"

"there is no better high than discovery"

"my mind may be sober, but my confidence is high"

"hit the bottom and get back up....hit the bottle and stay down"

and last one and so happy we don't feel this anymore!
..."I lived to be forgotten because I had forgotten how to live"
Well we are back and learning!!!! :) Happy days ahead xoxoxo

:abcf: Woke up last night to the sound of rain! It's great that our plants & grass could get extra watering. We have a mandatory 30% cut in home water use in our town. Quiet night..my husband left for his Friday night meeting, and our son is at work. Time for Say Yes To The Dress. :-D. And, signing in for the next 24 hours of my recovery, thanks to my HP & AA.

I've been away for a few days, but just as committed- missed you all. Congrats to the milestoners I've missed and hope all are well.

Dad comes home on Thanksgiving! Walking unassisted, doing stairs like nobody's business and completely cognitively intact. I thank the heavens each day for that, and for my sober self.

1st off, GREAT news about your dad!!!

2nd, I had another mini pie tonight!! My name is Hearts & I'm a French Silk Pie-holic.

1974. Nixon resigned. I was 11, and busy passing stolen cigarettes and Fear of Flying back and forth in the girls’ bathroom at school.

Best nights sleep in over a week after another visit to the gp and a new prescription for anti inflammatories. My appetite is getting better which is great but I'm still having extreme difficulty Swallowing, even coffee feels like it's full of glass shards going down.

I never expected to be ill quite so long and frankly I've had it with being sick now.

So, tonsillitis? Do one.

31 days. Go me!

In for another 24. 5.50uk
