Still here... anyone else?

Dee74 07-08-2011 02:42 PM

Yep. I'm trialling a new 'no thanks' policy LOL

LOL, looks like we're doing that too.

Have a great weekend GFCO...and everyone :wall:

Friday, finally. Have a good one all!

ReadyAndAble 07-08-2011 11:05 PM

Whew. That was a short but hectic week. Glad to bring it to a calm, smooth close.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. :)

Saturday: I have two birthday celebrations, a 30yo and a 40yo.

Wish me luck. I should be fine although the 30yo is really making a big deal about the 'this is gonna be wiiiild" thing. Outside? 90 degrees? We'll see.

No thanks policy made me chuckle, I often find myself thanking left and right, it's a vortex of thanks!

ReadyAndAble 07-09-2011 08:26 AM

I used to love the idea of wiiiiild nights. Now it seems tedious. Is there a "no thanks" button? ;) Hopefully a couple people there remain sober enough to keep you entertained with real conversation, MGF.

Hello! Rainstorm in Colorado...heaven. Doing well here.

Soph 07-09-2011 01:58 PM

Rainstorm in Colorado does sound great, MJ! Enjoy.

I am running around a lot today doing Saturday errands. Also planted an herb garden outside in my back yard, basics at the moment but will build. I planted basil, chives, mint, parsley and rosemary. Need sage and thyme and a few others. It smells so great out there already! Made me happy :) and now I just need to start cooking more and use them!

Way better than being hungover in bed, anxious and wondering how I can face the rest of the weekend.

Hope everyone is feeling good today!

lol... I should have known you'd have one handy, Dee!

Maryjan 07-09-2011 08:39 PM

I love it!

mygrandfather 07-10-2011 03:42 AM

Have a great Sunday everyone, I'm up early for a bike ride. Love these mornings...I know there are some hungover folks after those parties I was at last night.

ReadyAndAble 07-10-2011 07:22 AM

Hope you're having a nice ride, MGF. I'm going to go kayaking this afternoon; big waves rolling in today.

Stay sober, everyone. (Stay classy, San Diego).

Dee, how's that no-thanks policy working out for you? ;)

Soph 07-10-2011 11:15 AM

Been watching USA women's world cup soccer semi final all day (well, past few hours). OMG what drama! And we WON!!! We beat Brazil in shootout after 2-2 final. Such a game. Whew!

Big hug to all the Decembers. Hang in there.

PS We play France on Wednesday so stay tuned! :-)

That was an awesome win, I was jumping around my apt.

Soph 07-10-2011 07:54 PM

I know, Mgf, I was too...!! So great, after so much rollercoaster.

Speaking of rollercoasters, staying sober has given me a much more all pervasive sense of peace, although I still get emotional about this or that, it is much less and the "negativity" volume in my head seems to be turned more down...another reason not to pick up that first one.

Am thinking of all the Decembers, here and away and hoping all are ok.

You too Dee :)

ReadyAndAble 07-10-2011 08:16 PM

Glad you guys enjoyed the game. I didn't get a chance, but glad to know we're still in it, especially given all the good stuff I read about Brazil's team.

So true, Soph about the steadying effect. I've noticed that when I'm down, I'll even remind myself, "Well, at least I'm grateful to be sober." Definitely near the top of my list of blessings.

As for the dwindling Decembers, I saw VC and BF over on the July thread. Maybe GFCO and Hooped are there too? It's way more active in terms of daily support—it's hourly support, really. I guess we aren't quite the chatty chattertons we used to be. Maybe they'll opt for dual citizenship, so to speak. Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?

Sounds about right. I think sobriety a week in and sobriety 6 months in are completely different animals. Love you guys though.

ReadyAndAble 07-10-2011 11:09 PM

Yeah, I hear you GFCO. I've been also hanging out on the under one year thread, to get some idea of what folks have experienced at 8, 9, 10 months and beyond. A bunch just graduated from there. It was interesting that some said they still hear the call; softer now, but still there.

I was at an AA meeting today and a woman was getting recognized for 23 years, and she said she still does it one day at a time. She seemed OK with that; she had a big smile on her face when she said it.

La la salama, everyone.

Maryjan 07-11-2011 08:39 PM

That's really interesting...the day-to-day crazy brain does ease a few months in. Though I got sober and then pregnant, so I feel I am missing out on the "healthy and clear" feeling! I am going to try to hit the gym tomorrow...it's been months. I am starting not to feel so sick all day, thank goodness. I have been wondering if I'll be able to stay sober once I can drink again, but since that's 6 to 9 months away, I will be thankful to be sober and happy tonight. Lala salama!

ReadyAndAble 07-12-2011 08:08 AM

Good morning, gang. Work is a bit hectic right now, and I was feeling stressed.... then I remembered what my life was like this time last year. Now that was unmanageable, as the AAers like to say. And viola, a hectic work day no longer seems like a problem at all. :)

ViciousCycle 07-12-2011 09:40 AM

Somebody call?

ViciousCycle 07-12-2011 09:43 AM

I echo GFCO's thoughts........1 week vs. 6 months are two different mindsets. Will still pop in to see how you guys are and I am very motivated by your progresses!

Have a great Tuesday!

ReadyAndAble 07-12-2011 08:51 PM

Thanks for popping in, guys. Love the pic, VC. Look at young Ben Stein—how come everyone keeps getting older while I stay the same?

So anybody heard from Hooped? I don't care what thread folks are on, as long as they're somewhere on SR....

Onward and upward, everyone.

ViciousCycle 07-12-2011 09:46 PM

Hooped went back up camping I think..........he'll be back around. Goodnight all.

Maryjan 07-13-2011 06:48 AM

Happy Tuesday!

ReadyAndAble 07-13-2011 12:46 PM

Um, I don't want to freak you out MJ, but it's Wednesday.

ViciousCycle 07-13-2011 04:08 PM

Lol......
